Written In My Own Hearts Blood came out in July/August this year, about 5 years after the 7th book..So now it is another few years of waiting for book 9...Hopefully she writes it real quick and publishes it sooner..(Fingers crossed)

She also wrote another series in between the Outlander novels, to do with one of the English soldiers that became a kind of friend of Jamies, through the books...I didn't particularly fancy reading them...They are called the Lord John Series..

Yes, I've seen those books. They don't appeal to me either.
But smart marketing. If you got something that sells as hot cakes and ppl are willing (dying) to wait for the next one in the sequel, it's great timing to launch something else first. More sales, and you know your fans will wait regardless and buy when it publishes. In the meantime make an extra buck with another sequel. Smart woman! Or more likely; smart publisher!

I'm sort of half way through the second book :)

Also restarted my cowl neck scarf. I felt it was too wide. I found knitting patterns. So I suppose it'll look somewhat different from the crocheted ones, but still nice. NOw that it has fewer stitches, it will go even faster

I hope you post a picture of it when you have finished..At least by reading the books you can understand the flashbacks that occur in the series and also how they have changed some of the storyline by either leaving things out, or adding new bits in..Such a good thing they are not changing the whole of the story....The books are a fantastic read..

I will post a picture when the shawl is ready :) I'm afraid I'm gonna run out of yarn before it's done though, so fingers crossed I can find something similar.

Yes the whole series is clearer once you've read the books. I ended up watching a few episodes a second time and things were much clearer. YOu can fill in the gaps with what you've read.

That is so cool..The new winter fashion now I would say...We are in spring here, heading to summer, so I may have a go at making one for Winter 2015.....,.Suits you too..well done...I am waiting for the episode to be downloaded so I can watch it not long after it airs..It isn't in New Zealand for months or even a year or so, , so it has been awesome being able to watch it online, rather then wait and wait...

Thank you :)
I don't think it's on Dutch telly yet either. I download everything I wanna watch. Don't want to wait either for something that may not be on tv for months, maybe never. Although I do think it will air here as it's so popular.
But I hate subtitles, so I rather not watch Dutch tv.
Tomorrow we can watch ep 6, can't wait!

As for the cowl shawl, I think you could have one done within 2 evenings of knitting or crocheting, cause you use large needles. Took me a tad longer, because I have neck problems, but not much more than 3 evenings.
I intend to make another one, brown, slightly tighter, more like the ones in the series. Happen to have brown yarn still, so won't cost me anything.
Or maybe do one with cables, provided I can find the rest of my knitting needles, including my cable needles. I always seem to misplace them, can never find the darned things when I need them.

Finally got half way through the 2nd book, to the part where it gets interesting again. I just got to the part where they're back in Scotland again. Just when I was about to give up on the book ...
All that Parisian & political stuff, pfffff ...

Yes all that Parisian stuff was a bit too much in the book..I would usually skip alot of it so I didn't get put off reading it fully..

I like the look of the cowl shawls..Something so simple that looks great...

So looking forward to the next episode to see how they did it or wether any changes were made..Exciting..

Ep 6 was quite something noway
That whipping scene, bluddy ell ...
And the whole thing with Claire & Randal, must say he's an unbelievably good actor.

Episode 6 was amazing..The whole flogging part was well done..You only get that small gist of it from reading about it, but seeing it is a whole other 'bloody hell' moment, and yes Tobias Menzies plays it well..I know everyone is hanging out for the Wedding episode..haha..Probably more the night, then the day..Be interesting to see how they portray it all..

Yeah, the night, haha. Curious how they decided to do the whole love and intimacy scenes. Diana is rather subtle and more suggestive in her books, with the occasional exception here and there.

I read that the entire flogging scene wasn't more than 3 minutes, they made it appear longer by including the crowd's horror stricken faces etc. And indeed it felt like it went on forever. At some point I couldn't watch it anymore ohwell

And dang, must that woman (Diana) be making an utter fortune!
I best get on with finishing my own books, lol. Lord knows I'll make a fortune myself one day, haha

Yes, unfortunately I have to wait till Sunday :/ Cannot download it before then, nor watch it on a US site :'(
Well, I probably could if I wished to sod around with proxy things, but usually it takes so much time to find one that works, that I rather wait.

Reading book 3 now ... Went to bed way too late, again, couldn't put it down, lol.

I read the first book years ago and really enjoyed it. I don't have cable so I'll have to wait for the show on Netflix or Amazon.

By the way, crystal, that's a great photo of you. flowerforyou

Well, I've watched it :)
And yes slightly different from the book, although I didn't feel that was a problem.
Beautifully done, not shying away from showing naked bodies, succeeding at keeping it classy, romantic.
In spite of that, I'm slightly disappointed though. Can't really put my finger on the reason for that. I think the flipping back and forth in time? The buildup from the book that clearly illustrates her mixed feelings about the wedding etc.
Dunno. Guess just the downside to having read the book.

I think in the series they are more portraying those strong feelings that she hid from Jamie, and if you noticed, in the Book it is Claire telling the story, but in the series alot of it is Jamie now telling a story...I saw alot of feedback saying they were disappointed that Jamie wasn't awkward being a virgin and seemed to know exactly what to do, and when, but if you watch carefully you can see the awkwardness he has in the scenes...and yes that arse...mmmmmphhhm...
