not into fishing personally, but plenty of folks in san antonio are. i think i even read somewhere about texas parks and wildlife bringing back an endangered fish called the guadalupe bass

Bank fishing can be found at several city parks and at larger lakes within an hour's drive of the city. Most lakes contain a variety of fish such as largemouth bass, catfish and sunfish. White bass, striped bass, and hybrids make for good fishing in the larger lakes. Several sites are stocked with rainbow trout in winter. Lakes Braunig and Calaveras, just south of the city, offer the opportunity to fish for red drum in fresh water!
