Take it easy mate , no hacker is able to benefit from hardware specs , people who use powerful computers for gaming or designing purposes are usually interested in hardware comparison out of curiosity , I myself usually ask my friends about the hardware specs of their PC's and cellphones .

It's not about the brand itself , each brand has its high end devices , although I prefer Asus when it is about high performance laptops .

Hey, you have something at least. I remember back in the early 90's. I had a 286....... Moved up to a 486dx with 64gb/ram and a 4mb Diamond Steath 64 video card. The one with the daughter card. System ram back then was $20-$25. per mb. A decent 17" monitor would run you $700.+

VC's and PSU's? when it's about EVGA , your best choice would be GeForce GTX 9 series for sure , PSU's best supplier form my point of view is Silverstone . what did you mean by the VC ? i didn't get it

i realize this topic is old, but i couldn't resist lol Tempest elite case 990fx Asus Sabertooth MB TR2 RX 850w modular psu xfx Radeon HD6950 AMD X6 CPU@3.31 265Gb-samsung SSD 1TB WD HDD 32GB Corsair Ram 6 LED blue case fans(just for aesthetics lol) and a 120mm Zalmann CPU Fan. Built it a couple years ago....but still holding up

Techie geeks, I need technical advice. I have the old system windows xp. The green on screen display for sound settings disappeared. When I would lower or raise my volume, it would show up on the screen. How do I get that back?

I like windows 7 easy to use That's correct, it's probably in IamwhoIam1's best interest to upgrade to windows 7 if you like things simple.

I used to always know exactly what was in my machine, till I hooked up with a computer know-it-all and he took over maintenance and stuff. I know I have a 1TB HD, and a 1TB external one as backup. My VC is Radeon something and that's about it, lol. I quit gaming some years ago, so what I got is fine with me :D It's getting on a bit though, 5 yrs old I think.

I wouldn't give up on it just yet, but a tech shop can probably load Win7 on it for under $200 if the computer is strong enough for it (spec speaking). If you go this route, remember to either back up your files before bringing it to them, or ask them to backup & restore all of your files for you, and any old programs that'll work on the Win7 as well. In the meantime, if the only thing wrong with it is the sound settings, try this link: How to Recover the Volume or Sound Icon to Your Windows Taskbar *Edit: According to the instructions from the link provided, there will be 2 checkboxes, one for "Mute", and one for "Place volume icon in the taskbar". Make sure that the Mute is unchecked, and the other one for placing the volume icon in the taskbar is checked.

Thank you, sweetheart. I knew you'd look for a solution for me. That's not the issue. It's the on screen display. I will have to do more sleuthing to get to the bottom of it.
