You have recently moved to Saudi Arabia and taken up work as a project manager. Your wife dropped you off at the office and on the way back she is arrested by the police. You get a call from your wife (allowed one call) informing you that since Saudi law does not permit women to drive alone without a male member from the family accompanying her; she is held at the station & has been told: it is 10 lashes or go to jail for 2 months.
What would you do?

A. Rush to the police station and explain to the officers that the mistake would not happen again.
B. Go to your embassy when it opens (since you dont speak Arabic anyway) and ask for assistance
C. Tell her she is a heroine & to take photos on her cell phone to be posted later in facebook.
D. Tell her its just 10 lashes.

consult experts at the consulate for options

if the only option is jail or lash,, give her the chance to make her own choice between the two

if i had caller id, i would take the call and after she finished explaining. say politely. "i'm sorry. you have the wrong number. i'm not married" and in a very low tone add "anymore". then hang up

good thing you don't have a wife. with that attitude you would get more than ten lashes and wish you were in jail when she got home

I've been there twice. I always said I'd never go back after the first time but I did, but never again.

I'd go the police station first but if my experience is correct they won't listen anyway.
Then I'd go to the Embassy.

I would have checked the local laws and customs before traveling there.
Every person with half a brain knows a lot of middle eastern countries have very strict laws and customs pertaining to women. Saudi Arabia is one of the worst.
Go to your embassy and see if they can help, and get yourself a good local lawyer.

Deserting wife is not an option in Saudi.
Her ID has you as spouse & you will be summoned to court before her sentence.

Tell them they can give me 50 lashes if they just leave her alone!

well if i had been having my wife for dessert up until she got arrested, then the only option would be to mastermind a jail break so she would be home in time to be my sweet treat
