Former head of the CIA is saying the same thing. Russia and China are teaming up to take over America from the inside.

Ron Paul (R-TX) has served in congress for decades.

So did Ted Kennedy.
So has Nancy Pelosi.
Would you be listening to them if they were saying what Ron Paul was saying?

What is it about "served in congress for decades" that makes you want to listen to someone and believe they know what they're talking about?

He's now predicting an economic downturn worse than 2008.

Lots of people have.
There are a ton of websites with all sorts of charts and graphs and analysis about what's going on and what will go on.

Ever since at least 2008.

People have been saying "it's coming!" it's going to happen "next year" or "within the next 5 years" or "next 10 years" since 2008.

When's it going to happen?

I hear a lot about the potential consequences, and how bad it will be, how ineffective and skeered the government is or will be, and how you can prepare for it, by being brave and smart and courageous and buying this book for 19.95 and if you act now you'll get a free silver dime.

It's almost always:
1. We're screwed, be afraid.
2. Are you scared? Well listen to this celebrity who seems reputable so we look reputable, look for this leader who knows what's what.
3. Trust the leader celebrity and give us some money.
4. We'll tell you to buy precious metals so you don't have to be afraid.

What makes you think I'm listening to Ron Paul?
"What is it about "served in congress for decades" that makes you want to listen to someone and believe they know what they're talking about?" ct

You have inferred what I have not implied.
I didn't list that a qualification. I included it as an introduction.
"Lots of people have.

Dandy.
You're welcome to post links to the three you think most worthy of having a look (a different criterion than plausibility).

Kind of.
This is the Politics, Current News & Events forum.
Ron Paul is a former federal legislator, and has been running for president for decades.

I'd have included a teaser quote, but my bandwidth window doesn't open until Tuesday.

Seems to me like a sensible topic for this forum.
Any objections?

I wish we had listened to RP years ago. We might not be in the predicament we are now in.

They had the chance to change their insane policies after the 2008 collapse and instead of learning their lesson they went all in and now when the equities bubble bursts there is nothing at all they can do to stop the landslide.

U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK

The Outstanding Public Debt as of 31 May 2015 at 03:23:30 AM GMT is:
$ 1 8 , 1 5 7 , 1 6 7 , 7 2 0 , 2 2 3 . 4 8

The estimated population of the United States is 320,688,841
so each citizen's share of this debt is $56,619.27.

http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

This debt is astronomical.
And if interest rates climb too far too fast, how will we even be able to make the interest payments?

This much debt is simply irresponsible.
And we have the Democrats and Republicans to blame for it.
"What's pernicious about deficits for conservatives is this. It makes big government cheap. What we're doing, we're turning to the country, the "conservative" administration turns to the country and says: We're going to give you a dollar's worth of government, we're going to charge you seventy five cents for it. And we're going to let your kids pay the other quarter." George Will Nov 30, 2003
