Because the consequences of a bad choice are usually much more severe for a woman. Guys want to cry about what a failed relationship cost them but they are allowed a few hit and quit it relationship as sowing wild oats but a woman is damaged/over used goods if she does. Since women have less economic power to leave is more difficult, sometimes physically dangerous, and often it means giving up a job to go to and even lower paying one, living in a shelter, and maybe not having transportation. Where a guy is usually seen as an extra income boarder, reduces his expenses and improves economically by becoming single; especially if they move home or in with someone. And contrary to popular myth females can not pay for legal proceedings through their panties so if they get themselves in a mess they can be stuck for a long time. Time is rarely in the woman's favor.
