Fox has covered the story as it developed for weeks. I wish there was more details as to the pros and cons of how the deals are negotiated. It seems we get screwed in every deal by allowing goods from other countries without tariff while all our stuff gets the tariff. This concept makes other countries richer and us poorer. In the past it was considered "fair" because we were the richest country. Now, I'm not so sure.

Covered it enough to explain today's vote. You wouldnt get this story covered 24/7 even w/o the Charleston shooting happening.

Fox has covered the story from the beginning. Most of the coverage came when the Democrats wanted to kill the deal because they no longer would have the ability to make amendments for their special interest groups especially the unions. There was a lot of coverage when Pelosi hammered Obama for it and even more when the Democrats voted against it.

Hillery came out and sided with Pelosi.

I watched about 4 hours of debate and the votes today on CSPAN.

TPP wasn't voted on.. it was fast track authority or TPA.

Yes. It passed the House by a few votes. But it has to now go to the Senate and then back to the House for a final vote.

PTP and the TPP moving forward...

Pacific trade pact moves step nearer after Senate vote
Reuters By Krista Hughes and Richard Cowan 23 hrs ago

On the procedural vote, 13 of the chamber's 44 Democrats supported the legislation. They were joined 47 of the Senate's 54 Republicans, giving supporters of the legislation the 60 votes needed to proceed in the 100-member chamber. The bill itself now needs 51 votes to pass.

If all goes according to Republican leaders' plans, Congress also would send Obama this week a bill renewing an aid program for workers who lose their jobs as a result of trade deals.

The president wants both bills and he has left open the possibility of waiting for Congress to send him both before signing fast track into law.

Fast-track legislation would let lawmakers set negotiating objectives for trade deals, including the TPP, but it would restrict them to yes-or-no votes on final agreements.

and people laugh at me when i say our government is completely corrupted, haha. the federal gov. needs to be abolished. everything should be left to the states independently. federal gov serves their own corrupt interests, always at the downfall of the citizens.
