74 Murders in the last 2 months

Recent homicide victims also include a 16-year-old City College high school student who was raped and killed and a 2-year-old girl who suffered second-degree burns and died after police say her father left her in a car for several hours.

"People cannot boil them down to one simple factor, gangs and drugs," said Scott, vice chair of the public safety committee. "When you have people killing children in cars, that's something that has to be dealt with. It shows you that things are a lot deeper than many folks think."

At this time last year, Baltimore officials had pointed to one of lowest midyear homicide figures of the past three decades, with 98. This year, the city reached the 100-death mark on May 21.

The number of nonfatal shootings this year has also risen significantly, to 285, up from 151 at this time last year.

Some Baltimore officials have blamed some of the surge in violence on the dealing of drugs looted from pharmacies during the riots. DEA officials have not said how much was taken or announced any arrests in those cases.

The city has also seen a sharp increase in juvenile homicides, with 11 so far this year, compared to six at this time last year.

Among the victims is 16-year-old Arnesha Bowers, who was found June 7 in a Northeast Baltimore rowhouse that had been burned. Two men and a 14-year-old boy have been indicted on murder, rape, arson and gang charges in her death.

The death of 7-year-old Kester "Tony" Brown and his mother also shocked the community. Wilder recalled her close relationship with her nephew, who she said spent weekends at her home and stayed with her after school.

This is so sickening to hear and yet as long as we hide our heads in the sand and say that this is isolated nothing will be done. Wake up people and quit playing the blame game.

It is also really sad that way up here in the North this doesn't get reported I hear about our fire and such.

Really say.

I saw the story on the 2yo left in the car on WBAL.

The Mayor made the choice to allow the riots to happen. They released tape recordings from the first night of massive plundering and it was clear the cops were told to stand there and watch the criminals rampage through the streets.

We will see what happens.

But this weekend will be a blood bath...

The drugs don't fall from the sky and neither does money. There are networks for things that don't have a point of origin in the U.S. I believe these things are overlooked whenever crime drugs gangs or blame for those things are discussed. That doesn't totally absolve any middleman or person who chooses to do these things. At some point in time you have to ask yourself or your governments why is ______ getting all the way here from N.Y. Miami, Mexico, Columbia, etc. Hard drugs, actual harmful addictive narcotics aside from pharmacy drugs, are not sourced in the U.S. Period. They end up here, some are partially processed here but if the supply is cut off (which can be done) the changes we need to make as a nation can begin. Until that happens things will continue to ebb and flow drug drought money motivated murder.

Correction, I have heard of Cessna drops so drugs can indeed fall from the sky but usually not over dry land.

28 pharmacies and 2 methadone clinics were looted. 170,000 doses of narcotics went on the street. That's the problem right now.

Columbia? Would that be Columbia, South Carolina?

There is no letter "U" in the name of the South American nation of Colombia.

So in brief & simple English.
The fault lies NOT with the predominantly black city, including the leadership, police & fire rescue & criminals & residents.... BUT and outside foreign force, that probably is NOT black or American.

And this is out of greed & the mostly white government did not crack down on this outside & unseen force that has influenced & corrupted so many young & impressionable black youths with promising athletic careers that love their mama, song in church & visit their illegitimate children & baby mama' on welfare.

Yea.. that didn't work anywhere, anytime including all the previous threads.

gee, I thought the post was about the drugs mentioned in the previous thread,,,,

The OP post is the crime spike, & people killing each other.
The drugs are local & being manufactured within, by black gangs. So much so, that this was or is, the main focus of the police now. * Incredible amount of MAJOR drug busts *

IMO - this focus on them/ gangs, (which has to be) & the fear the police now have (of NOT being supported) , has given (different types) of criminals more freedom to be violent.
So everyday people & everyday life is WORST & more dangerous than before the riots. It is sad & scary. There is no consistentancy. No sense of security. No sense of community or unity.

,,,based on what facts/evidence is that statement made?

I agree, police openly showing they wont do their jobs gives criminals more of a sense of security,,,its authoritative blackmail

let us do what we want or suffer

perhaps its not a ploy to push a police state, perhaps its a ploy to promote more guns amongst citizens,,,,

lol, and Im always accused of having a racial hangup,,,

anyway, noone has to 'drop drugs' in, but people can ALLOW drugs in,,,especially governments, where there is poverty there arent the resources for mass manufacturing/storing/shipping of drugs,

this was the same government that allowed people to lie to people about receiving treatement for syphillis after all,,,

so yeah, that drugs are permitted by government into certain communities is something that many are able to 'go with',,,because of the governments historical precedence for experimenting on / advocating for the destruction of the impoverished,,,

You question was ridiculous & not worth answering There is lots of proof including previous links.
I can't possibility take that question or any statements you made afterwards seriously anymore than I can the guy who blames outside forces.
You are both trying in vain to deflect the focus from the truth. And it is not & never will work nor will the blame game.
