Off this week to work voluntary in a school to help children to read and write.
Who knows might get a job later this year but that is not my intention.
Everybody has a right to learn

lovely annie.

when I left school at 16, I started a youth training course working with children.

the course was a total wreck, after 6 months we still hadn't had a course day with the tutor which should have been once a week. even though it was a total shambles and I wasn't getting anywhere I just couldn't turn my back on the 2 boys aged 5 who couldn't talk or write when I first met them.

six months later after spending 5 days a week with them they were both talking perfect for their age and writing, even though the course got me no where, I just couldn't turn my back on these boys and neglect them like there parents did. I didn't get a qualification due to the course being a wreck but I taught two little boys to read and write and that was more rewarding than any qualification. ill never forget them and I still think of them to this day.

those little boys came first to me, and that's why I stayed there.

The smiles one their faces when they have just clicked to something makes my day.
Makes all the work behind the teaching worth while.
biggrin

it does.

it didn't bother me the course was a wreck and I was going no where, I just thought of these boys and how much of a difference I made and I couldn't walk away and neglect them, since that's what there parents did. very sad.

Very sad because there are do many children in that boat.
It will be hard not to take them home and I am a sucker for strays

I know, these 2 boys were just put in front of the tv and their parents never taught them anything. im just glad I stayed and got them well educated.

I wanted to take them home to, they were always dirty and clearly neglected. if I could of, I would have took them home.

when I did leave, during the assembly the head master spoke about me so beautifully, I was shocked by how much I was loved there and then my 2 little boys walked in with a huge bouquet of flowers and I was crying my heart out.

but I achieved what I needed to do with these boys and they didn't need me anymore so I had to move on and that's when I started nursing.

Baseball is certainly not as important as teaching kids to read and write. But I know the feeling. I coached kids of different ages in little league baseball for 15 years. It was one of the most rewarding things I ever did.

The look on their little smiling faces the first time they got a hit or the excitement they had during a big game was priceless.

But the most rewarding thing is to drive past the fields now and see them coaching.

Im thinking I need to purchase two pairs of jeans and begin Yule shopping for the kid... He being 6'7, could be a chore finding something he would love to wear...

I am chiming in on this parade. I used to be a Day Camp counselor. Children looked up to me and loved me. I am always a lot of fun and exciting. Children can sense when you're awesome!!!

Being a coach can be just as important. you are helping kids to show another way of life. setting them up for goals to achieve.
Thank you

Try on line first to see what is there then go into the shops. It will save your legs.
It is hard to buy for tall child
