Hahahah Debbie1980 it is the way we raise our kids in the states. You were taught from day one it was mommy and daddy never by their first names.. So that is all you really knew till you got old enough to understand it.

ive always called my parents mom and dad but if I chose to call them by their name they wouldn't think it was disrespectful.

Not talking to them
calling them buy their first name

Going to university
Standing up for myself and family

what was wrong with calling them by their first name?

It wss the tone of my voice I used and it is disrespectful to call someone older than you by there first name.
Parents friends became aunty and uncle
Or they were Mr and Mrs.
It's a cultural thing
For me to call my mum her first name I was firey angry and they both knew. I was like that when mum and I had a fight. This is like 30 years ago.

I use to slam my bedroom door alot when i was a teenager. One time they got so fed up that they took my door off the hinges. Also never cleaned my room. Not sure how proud i made them. I never did drugs or anything illegal. Never got into any serious troubles.

My parents wanted to strangle me when I said "Oh well"

Dad: You were supposed to mow the lawn this morning!

Me:Oh well

Mom:You didn't clean your room

Me:Oh well

My parents are saints.

They've always been proud of me. At least that's their story and they're sticking to it.

I was never any trouble, except for the smartazz comments.

I have always been good at impressing, with my fine deeds of love for them.

I reckon thats all they needed.

Made my mom proud by taking care of my brothers and sisters when they were little. I played the role model mom for a very long time. I had to, we've had no choice back then, my parents were both working so someone had to be the mom. Someone had to do it. And I'm glad it was me. :)

Like you yes we had to look after younger siblings.
Both parents worked
It did teach us responsibility.

I'm ashamed to say this but here it goes . My mom bailed my brother and I out of the slammer at least five times a year for fighting each other . Never a good thing for momma .but we both grew up to make momma proud we both own our own trucks and haul freight all over the US and Canada . So that being said SORRY MOM LOVE YA MAUH .

at that age

hey my son calls me by my first name
it doesnt bother me
but at times my daughter gets on

I did not lay eyes on my Mother until I was 22 and my Dad until I was 46.

The people who had me , courtesy of the state, gave "mean" a whole new meaning so I thoroughly enjoyed doing even the smallest thing I could do to "get" them and pretty much mastered it by the time I was a teenager, so the list would melt down this site. Kind of defined Preacher's brat. lol

I did not do ANYTHING to "make them proud" but I did plenty to make others that cared about me glad they did. And that is what mattered to me. Especially my boyfriends parents, my church family, extended birth family, and my children. My children are what really are important to me. But yea I knew to keep eyes in back of my head because I knew how ornery the world could be.

Years later my birth parents both told me they were very proud of me. My father had a very hard time saying it early on. He finally told me he adored me but because he felt he had no right to claim pride in a daughter that raised herself but that he was so happy who I was and who his grandson was.

I never really felt a need to piss off my parents. laugh. As they never told me what to do, or who to be friends with. They were very light-hearted, humorous people. However, I like to annoy "draconian" people. They always try to tell me, how work is more important than friends, and how it should be my first priority. I'm one of those who puts friends and family before ANYTHING. There's only so much I can take from strict people. If I didn't have friends or family, how would I even get out of bed on a morning? Would I even want to? Sure, this point I make, makes my social worker flinch, but it's all about combatting loneliness.

Op not sure ... but I am sure I pissed them off ... oh just remembered this is good but funny now ... I am pretty sure my brother was taking me out to the movies ... so i was suppose to clean my rm ... so all the dishes that i had in there went under the bed with all the cloths I had on the floor ... so as far as I was concerned it was clean ... lmao well my father didn't... after looking to see ...if my rm was clean ... that belt on my butt sure hurt ... and I did not get to go anywhere ... and still had to clean it ... but I am a pretty neat person now ... but not becouse of that ...

proud... sure he was proud of me ... we where in town and ran across someone I have know idea who now ... but he was like why didn't I tell her about my businesses back where I was living... I was visiting my dad from out of town ... but I didn't know what to say... to him I was like why ... did I need to ... shrug ...
and how about are we there yet rofl
