Topic: The Star Upon The Tree | |
---|---|
Here is one I wrote for the Christmas season. It's something that means alot to me when the last ornament is put on or it may be the first one.
The Star Upon The Tree The star upon the tree Glows for a special cause, It's not to lend a light For good ole Santa Claus. Or to make the tree pretty With its light all aglow, But something very special That you ought to know. It is to remind us That there was a special birth, To remind us just how much His love is really worth. For Christ was born On this special day, The light from the star That led the way. Remember, Christmas is not all about fruit and toys, Or wrapping of presents for girls and boys. For it was silent On the night of his birth, For He came to us all To bless this earth. When all the decorations are up The last is the star, To remind us of three wise men That traversed so far. The light of the star led them To the manger so forlorn, When the inn was too full For the Christ child to be born. When nothing else reminds you What the true meaning is, What Christmas is all about Then I will tell you this. God gave us His son On this blessed holy night, With the star up in the sky With its shining light. The star upon the tree Is put there every season, To remind us all the meaning That Jesus is the reason. |

EXCELLENT! Commercialism doesn't have to control your holidays. It's all in what you let have a say

That is beautiful and oh so true, the meaning of Christmas has been lost to the wants of Christmas. It is all about spending money we don't have on children that don't even need it. My oldest daughter started to teach her children that Christmas isn't all about presents. It's about Christ who was born to save us. The amount of money that she normally would have spent on them is now cut down to allow money to be spent on children that have no means to gifts. And I will say my grandchildren are very happy to be buying for other children,

This was a truly special poem Robert..I think it makes the perfect statement to a terribly commercialized Holiday..The birth of Jesus, I remember when my son was just 5years old asking me why we did not have a birthday cake on Christmas..we have ever since then. He is now 23.
