I've had love happen more than once....

I loved my ex wife,

but I loved it more when she finally left.

now I love my girlfriend,


so that's 3 times!

If that is true than all I can hope for for the rest of my life is... life...

I don't really think love always just happens. It may be true for young romantic love. But true and mature love can and should be a decision...a decision to have an open heart no matter what, to love life itself even if/when not being in an intimate relationship...

Love can happen often as why would people now marry three times? of course if you believe it can only happen once it is then a self fulfilling prophecy... After all if there were pnly one person for each the chances of actually meeting are hundreds of millions to one as there are more than 6 billion people so its nice to believe that people are the only ones but really that is silly..and in no way diminishes anyones uniqueness or specialness to others.

we all have love to give

That's a scary thought.
If that were in any way true it's astronomically amazing the human race or civilization has survived at all.

Especially in light of people living in cities, and states with millions and millions of people in them, yet have to go to other states, countries, or internationally across thousands and thousands of miles of ocean searching for that "once" love.
That wasn't even realistically possible more than 30 years ago.

If love happening only once were true, then it's extremely sad for children, especially when people are trying overseas for love, for more likely than not the majority have absolutely no experience with parents that actually loved anyone, even their spouse, so they wouldn't even know how to spot love or understand it if they found it, having absolutely no experience with it.

Actually, that might be sort of accurate, if you say something like "the idea that love is a magical forever power that binds you forever with another person in bliss only happens once," then you might have something.

Actual love can grow any time, anywhere.

Only once? I remember my break-up with the third lover being harder than with the first lover. It's not that I didn't want to think it was happening. It was me not wanting to believe he'd abandoned me.
