all of the school shootings ... I heard last night watching something ... and they had said most all of these shootings these kids where on medication ... and they even read off the list of what they where on...
and the conversation went on to say... it was party the pharmaceuticals fault ... becouse to many kids get hooked on these drugs that mentally is suppose to help them ... but of course all about the $ for the pharm co. and how much they sell these drugs ... I have been a believer that some medications are good ... but when someone does not take their meds right or don't take them or not agreeing with their system could be a could be ... I have seen them become hostile an more depressed an suicidal... but if this has been a mental issue ... most got their guns legally ... or taken from their homes or friends get them for them ... but all had some degree of mental problems ... they talk about the laws ... more back ground cks and making it harder to get guns at gun shows ...and the Government is not doing enough ... becouse of the NRA... well I think its about time to start having schools & collages get more security ... and double ck the students that are in these places ... put a social worker on full time to meet them one on one and keep a file on them an look for red flags ... this will continue becouse of copy cats that may have mental issues or being bullied ... its a who knows until something happens an sometimes we still don't have the answers an there is no fix ... sorry to say ... only putting safety precautions in place ... |

Ill say this...it doesnt relate to school shootings but it does relate to medication....
Take an active role in your loved ones medication. Dont take a doctors word as a final say...you know your loved ones better than some doc does. Case in point..going through an issue with my mom right now. She was admitted to the hospital about 3 wks ago with a low sodium issue and, because of age and being bedridden for a week, she was then admitted to a physical rehab hosp to get back on her feet. I stressed to the rehab hosp that she not be out on any pain meds nerve pill (neurontin, lyrica, etc...), or antidepressants because of a past incident in '08....she had had back surgery and every med in the book was thrown at her. She became a zombie and eventually had to weened off all of it Of course, my pleas went unheeded by the rehab doc and he immediately started her on Norco and Neurontin...but it didnt last long because I worry the hell out of nurses and can be quite the azzhole to them when it comes to my mother....so those were stopped immediately. A few days ago, the same rehab doc mentioned he wanted to start Lyrica and an anti depressant....stating he thought she was depressed. I asked him if he would be depressed if he had been bedridden for a week and then came to a strange hosp for 2 more weeks. He's seen her, at most, for 15 min a day for those 2 weeks. I see her pretty much everyday...and have for years. And Ive witnessed her on Neurontin and cymbalta and a abt 20 other meds they tried in '08. Point is, I know when shes normal....and it aint when shes on these types of meds. Use your own intuition when it comes to meds....at the least, look into second or third opinions....and dont let someone who spends just a short time with your loved one chunk meds at them just to see what might stick. Apply a little common sense and be an ahole if you must...it can be fun ![]() As for my mom, she came home today. Ive moved in for a cpl of weeks and she is on just her reg bp and chloresteral meds...and doing fine....and itll stay that way if I have anything to say about it. |

I agree with you Rebel.
I will say further that it is NOT simply peeps with mental issues...it IS peeps with mental issues and their families (parents, siblings, friends, coworkers, etc.)simply are not paying attention to them (like Rebel pointed out). IMHO, when these children/young adults with mental issues get to that step of committing mass murder/suicide, they have been ignored and not gotten the proper attention (not just the correct meds). To reiterate what Rebel said....PAY ATTENTION to your family and friends who have the slightest mental or health issues. Rebel, I'm happy that your Mom is much better and home ![]() (that low sodium thang with our elders is a beotch to deal with ![]() ...Also, very nice pic, Rebel ![]() |

what do you think about ...all of the school shootings .
Not much. Just as I don't generally in the course of my day think about all the: - gang shootings. - workplace shootings. - suicide shootings. - military shootings. - family shootings. - cop shootings. - accidental shootings. - self defense shootings. - deer, duck, and game shootings. they had said most all of these shootings these kids where on medication
Kinda like 1/3 of vehicle deaths involve alcohol? I think its about time to start having schools & collages get more security ... and double ck the students that are in these places
Maybe surround them with barb wire fences, put a central control system in place that locks kids in their class rooms, put bars on all the windows and doors, video cameras everywhere, totally control who comes in or out at all times, maybe give them an hour of yard time for P.E.? I agree. Teens have it coming with their loud music and loud mufflers fast and furiousing at 2 in the morning. And everyone knows if you treat people like prisoners they never act like them, or act out in any way. put a social worker on full time to meet them one on one and keep a file on them an look for red flags
Damn straight. Kinda like Joe McCarthy. Keep a file on everyone suspected of possibly thinking about the idea of having a tentative connection to someone that might potentially consider the thought of having an idea to possibly do something undesirable at some point that may potentially cause the possibility of leading to some kind of harm, physical, emotional, social, whatever, in the past, present, or future. only putting safety precautions in place
Let's see... That's how we got the patriot act. That's how we got the TSA. That's how we got NSA spying. That's how we got the soda ban. That's how we got stickers telling people not to blow dry their hair while taking a bath. That's how we got Obamacare. That's how we got NHS spy on your neighbors "if you see something suspicious, report it to authorities." It's for the children and a secure homeland! |

All I'll add is that it isn't simple. You aren't going to find a one-fix solution to this kind of problem.
Lots of people who have done bad things have been on medication of one kind or another. Many people who have been on alcohol or various illegal drugs, were actually trying to self-medicate, and failing. So it doesn't mean that the medications caused the bad behavior. Doesn't mean the medications DIDN'T make things worse either, of course. But don't assume the medications ARE the problem, just because they are present so often. After all, lots of people die under physicians care, but that doesn't mean the doctor murdered them all. It's just not simple. As someone said above, even when medications help someone who is suffering from depression, or mania, or paranoia, or other nervous disorders, they wont FIX them. It usually takes medicines, AND monitoring, AND therapy, AND other attention. |

Another commonality with the shooters was, they were all fatherless.
So fatherless kids on assorted drug cocktails having easy access to weapons. Terrible mix ![]() |

I heard more on this subject ... most are heart broken men or boys ...
and on medication but really not sure which ones where ... so hear say ... I know it is easier to put security in schools then collages... but any time or every time this happens people tend to go buy more guns & amo like the government is going to take the rights away of law biding citizens... and the NRA starts to put fears into them ... that is pretty sad when u think about it your letting the dealers win and gain from these tragedy... |
