New York City police officer dies after being shot in East Harlem
Published October 21, 2015 Oct. 20, 2015: Police officers gather near the site where a police officer was shot and A New York City police officer was shot and killed late Tuesday in the East Harlem section of the city after he responded to a report of shots fired and an armed robbery. Police Commissioner Bill Bratton identified the murdered officer as Randolph Holder, 33, a five-year veteran of the force.Holder was an officer in the department's Housing Bureau. Bratton said Holder responded to a report of shots fired at East 102nd Street on the city's Upper East Side. When he arrived, a man told the officer his bicycle was stolen in an armed robbery. Bratton said officers pursued the suspect to the intersection of East 120th Street and the FDR Drive, where gunfire rang out. One witness told Fox 5 that she heard at least five shots. Holder was shot in the forehead and rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m. The Associated Press reported dozens of uniformed and plainclothes officers lined the hospital hallway while other officers held each other as they arrived. Bratton and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio arrived at the hospital shortly before 10 p.m. Bratton said the suspect was wounded in the shootout and was apprehended four blocks away. The commissioner said the suspect, who has not been identified, was expected to be released from the hospital and into police custody Wednesday.Three other man were also taken into custody and questioned. A section of the FDR Drive, a busy parkway that runs along the East River, was shut down while officers investigated the scene. Holder is the fourth NYPD officer to die in the line of duty in the last 11 months, according to Bratton. On May 2, Officer Brian Moore, 25, was shot while questioning suspect Demetrius Blackwell, 35, in Queens. Moore died of his injuries two days later. On December 20, detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were gunned down as they sat in their car in Brooklyn by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, who stated that he wanted to avenge the police-involved deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner by killing officers. Brinsley later shot himself in the head while fleeing police. Fox5NY.com. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/10/21/nyc-police-officer-shot-in-east-harlem-condition-unknown/ |

and they wonder why Police shoots to kill in the US! ![]() I was watching videos last night , takening by the public, of police 'attempting to arrest grown men'. They were resiting, fighting back..literally & screaming insults at the police, or screaming lies.. " He is trying to kill me ", " He tried to choke me " & some really bizarre things. And the cop is doing nothing wrong. And it is all on public cellphones *To the haters... Yes, there are a few bad cops. * A few things occurred to me. 1- Wimpy criminals that are one step away from crying for their mother 2- Screaming as if the cop is ' being mean to him', as opposed to just doing his job... Because you are bad. 3- Doing it intentionally , hoping to have a lawsuit, media attention or they have an agenda. 4- They think if they scream & fight the cop will set them free... Instead of pissing the cop off & making it harder on themselves. It was quite obvious, they were/are bad actors & big babies There was NO respect for police/authority. There seems to be NO concept of consequences for their actions. Some were genuinely surprised & either couldn't believe it was really happening or couldn't believe they were caught. Or delusional and believed they were ambushed by a criminal themselves. I wish all the resiting arrest & lunatic behaviour was televised with each arrest. And that all the injuries that cops receive trying to make an arrest were available to the public. * God knows how many their must be?! * And that every bystander who had stepped in to help the COP, be on the evening news. I now completely understand WHY the police want cameras ![]() * Before I thought of it as a civil liberty infringment... but they need it with the unpredictable craziness * |
