I am glad that big bad old government was large enough to bail out the private banks and wallstreet when they collapsed the economy. SO why do people still claim government is the trouble not the solution? The trouble with the government that I see is that its been hijacked to a great degree by corporations and campaign funding. We have vile people who sell themselves to the highest bidder and are beholden to them thereafter and rather than tend to the peoples business they tend to the business that paid for the campaign.

the distraction is 'socialism', when our culture will always be a corporatocracy

money is power and always has been,,,the wealthy will look after their interests to retain their wealth,

I don't see how we will ever change that,,,,sadly,,,

Big Government or Big Business?

They're in a symbiotic relationship.

glad that big bad old government was large enough to bail out the private banks and wallstreet when they collapsed the economy.

Banks and wall street wouldn't have been able to "collapse the economy" without the help of the government.

why do people still claim government is the trouble not the solution?

Because all governments pretty much fall into oligarchy.
Our representative republic is an attempt to mitigate the problems of that by focusing on maintaining rights of the individual as opposed to focusing on enumerating powers of government.

The trouble with the government that I see is that its been hijacked to a great degree by corporations and campaign funding

The trouble with government is this is inherent to governments.
No matter what government you have, this will occur.
Those in power funnel favor to those influential in helping maintain power.

We have vile people who sell themselves to the highest bidder and are beholden to them thereafter

You've just described most average human beings looking for a job.
Especially in the minimum wage level.

rather than tend to the peoples business they tend to the business that paid for the campaign

Name anything people do that isn't the same.
All you are saying here is "rather than delay or sacrifice gratification and focus on the gratification of others to equivalency, they focus on securing and increasing their own gratification."

doesn't 'conserve' mean to keep things as they are?..lol

thus 'conservatives' perhaps have some responsibility here?
