You take it one day at a time.
Build your life so full that he starts not to matter as much.

I am a bit confused about who has the child but it doesn't matter really..

Welcome to Mingle

Did you mean that your 53-year old ex (hereinafter called "the Jacka$$") had left you for a younger woman and now has a child with her?

Give me his address. Some of my relatives are guns-for-hire. They don't have to kill the Jacka$$... just hurt him a little... until you say "that's enough."

Just trying to make you smile. Welcome to M2! flowerforyou

Now, let's kick the Jacka$$.

I heard the best way for a woman to get over a man was to get under another man.

I would try simple things like adding his number to free text alerts. like weather updates, traffic alerts.. try using his address for free trials of viagra, cookbooks, free trials of vitamins from late night infomercials.. and just giggle knowing he has no clue wtf is going on

First off, thank your lucky stars that its NOT YOU, who at 53, is now raising a baby..
Go take up a hobby or craft..and enjoy your years ahead..

YOU WILL HEAL WITH TIME. GRIEVING IS A PROCESS WE ALL HAVE TO GO THROUGH

..HOPEFULLY ITS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE OF SELF-AWARENESS.....

I guess I'm lucky. The only trouble I've had getting over my own 20 year ex, was to deal with my sense of failure as a married man. Not to deal with her. I've had a lot more trouble dealing with left-over damage from much earlier experiences, which undermined my sense of personal value.

For each relationship that fails, there will be a unique healing process. Just as you do different things to recover from a broken bone than from an infection, your recovery from a lost love, will be related to why it existed, and why it was lost.
