I can not speak for other countries Armed Forces but in the United States Single Military Members are required to have a care giver duly appointed with a Power of Attorney to act for dependent parents or children and if they do not have one will be separated from the service under hardship discharge BEFORE deployment.

So there is no reason for someone saying they need to send someone into this country. Especially since military bases here have day care centers, licensed on post day care homes, foster parent services, and often DOD schools have before/after school programs. With dependent wives and retiree's eager to work part time to supplement low rank pay it is not difficult at all to get sitters.

Also all USA military bases have Exceptional Family Member Program Professional and highly knowledgeable Co-coordinators to deal with emergencies or ongoing programs related to special needs family members that every military member is brief about entering the service, repeatedly with each deployment, and regularly in Unit education and personal counseling through Chain of Command. .

ALSO don't let Scammers pretending to be USA military fool you into giving them money for phone calls to loved ones. Why because USO.org provides FREE Operation Phone Home prepaid cards at a world wide network (including front line troop locations) world wide.

I do believe that duplicate programs are available in other major countries as is emergency message relays through the world wide Red Cross.

Keep in mind it is NOT difficult to get pictures or uniforms and pretend to be military but if they don't have a military ID that they are reqired to show you if you ask to see it.

HOWEVER it is a court martial offense which can mean hard core prison time to defraud a civilian anywhere and it is the last thing a real soldier wants to do.
