Do they do it just because they can? Because they hate animals as well as people who own them? Just cold blooded hatered? We all know elderly people live longer because of pets. When their pets get killed by motor vehicle terrorists signing another a death warrent for people with congestive heart failure, and other such life threatening diseases.

wait, huh?
Nothing is worse than hitting someones pet, but I either missed the point or something. I hit a dog in the burbs, dam if I didn't roll left stabbing the brakes only to realize the dam thing reversed, so I rolled right and heard that nauseating thump. Stopped, saw the non moving dog, felt like hell, and drove off, 10 seconds later a cop pulled me over and gave me holy hell for intentionally hitting the animal, and by now a screaming house wife has run up to my van.
Finally the cop believes me- 5 minutes of this woman yelling at me and the crap feeling of hitting the dog, off the leash- me going the speed limit, maybe 5 over.
So, I dont think every animal hit is the work of a psycho.

OMG~

Depending on where you live, it just is just inevitable, seriously!

I have hit atleast one of the following animals, and I am in no way cruel, or hit them intentionally:

-deer
-dog
-cat
-snakes
-racoons
-opossium
-birds

You just can not help what happens sometimes.

I dont know anyone that would intentionally run over an animal . Sometimes it is unavoidable . I went to a school with a girl whos Mother was KILLED when she tried to avoid hitting a dog in the middle of the highway .

I have hit a dog in the middle of the night on a 4 lane highway the dog was black and I didnt see it until it was to late . I couldnt have stopped or slowed down there was a semi riding my ass .

I felt bad but I dont think you should put yourself in danger to avoid hitting an animal .
People should keep there animals out of the road if they really care for them so much .

People who do it on purpose are losers and they should probably be shot several times.

But to be fair, those damn squirrels aren't very smart and sometimes they deserve it for running out in front of me.grumble

I hit a horse one night, it was horrible...He was wandering around on the road, in a gully that crossed a creek...

I had nothing but creek either side of me, and him on the white line, I was in an F100 and with the wide bonnet, and doing a 100km/h (the legal speed), on a darkened rural road, my lights didn't catch him till we were in the gully...

I had my kids in the car....it was horrible, thankfully, I managed to clip him with my side of the car, and not the front of the bonnet, and we didn't go over into the creek below.

I immediately jumped out of the truck, after putting on my hazards, to check on the horse, but ewe were vulnerable to other cars coming either way.

I moved the truck up to the top of the otherside of the gully, and then went back to try and catch the horse, to lead him to my truck lights to check damage.

He went skittering off into the darkness...all I could do was find a farm house, and notify the police there was an injured horse on the road, somewhere...

I know some times it is an unavoidable accident. But on a four lane stop with street lights and stop lights on allfour corners. Not even on a highway or freeway. Come on. It wasn't my dog but someone I know.
