It Has Come to This: Apple Is Replacing The Pistol Emoji With a Squirt Gun

It Has Come to This: Apple Is Replacing The Pistol Emoji With a Squirt Gun.

Do you own an iPhone? Do you dread upgrading to the next version of iOS? Well, if you like your pistol emoji you'll really want to avoid the next upgrade.

According to a CNN report, Apple will replace the "controversial" pistol emoji with a green water gun in the next iOS 10 upgrade.

Bullets are out, water is in. Apple is replacing the controversial pistol emoji with a green water gun in the next version of its iPhone and iPad operating system, iOS 10.

The gun swap is just one of a number of emoji changes the company announced on Monday. It will also introduce new and revamped emojis that show women doing stereotypically male jobs like detective, construction worker, and police officer. There are new female athletes, a pride flag, and family options for single parents.

The water gun swap is not Apple's (AAPL, Tech30) first foray into cartoon gun control. Earlier this year the governing body in charge of emojis nixed a proposed rifle emoji. It was one of a number of possible new additions, but Unicode Consortium members Apple and Microsoft argued against the Olympics-inspired gun, according to Buzzfeed.

So there you have it, America. When Hamilton isn't removing muskets from their Broadway shows to avoid offense, Apple is turning pistols into squirt guns. These are the real solutions to gun violence...

Any who... I think removing the Emoji of a gun or bomb (or anything listed in the CNN links & other embedded links), will prevent any violence in society.
I believe it is just " conditioning "

No humans throughout history have shown violence. A stick a rock, or a stick with a rock on it. None of the items you described ever caused violence. Get rid of humans and you will solve your violence problems. Oh yeah, I forgot animals, the earth, bugs, spider, and most forms of animals on Earth are violent. Tell me again how you plan to get rid of violence.

Maybe if gather the world around the campfire and sing kumbayah

Did Apple specifically say that the reason they were doing this, was because they hoped to reduce gun violence?

Frankly, especially when seen happening at the same time as changing the other representations listed, it sounds more like a mundane and typical decision to try to go with more popular items.

On another note, remember about a decade ago or so, when those then new SuperSoakers became available? And how insane gang violence erupted over them, because egotistical jerks would take such offence at being soaked, that they would return fire with real bullets? Doesn't speak well to the "squirtguns lead to friendliness" idea.

You have lots of threads to catch up on.
(To know people's & views & personality & politics).

Try responding to the opening post & not jump to conclusions or put words in people's mouths.

I never said rid society of violence.
Or that humans are not violent.

Btw.. we have a music forum.
And I wouldn't sing Kumbaya if someone paid me. smokin

So...they actually put an orange tip on a lime green water gun emoji? Why? Did they want people to know that the water gun emoji was actually not a real water gun emoji....but rather, a toy water gun emoji? Good Lord rofl rofl rofl
