family-oriented is simply sticking to the family as is part of the culture. Being protective can also mean being too jealous...

Generalizations are always a tricky business for me. Doesn't matter if they are positive or negative. Especially, I suppose, because of how many times I've come across what might be called the "dark side" of the seemingly positive traits. Such as "family-oriented" people who love family so much, they start up a half dozen of them.

Dutch yes, as are all the Dutch, very liberal and most friendly Europeans, as for Italians, well, to a certain extent yes but also very possessive in a not so healthy way. In fact the further East you go the more mistrustful guys are.imp

Interesting enough, I wonder if this idea, family oriented is more base on how we are raised. Adding a culture is just like adding a color to differentiate one from another. One planet, many countries, so much in common.

And we all live in windmills, wear clogs and grow tulips! Better yet, we sometimes eat tulips. Okay, that was during that dreadful last winter of WW2 when people were starving.
