This sounds like a really good book. In this little article, two things that every country knew for a fact pre-invasion are shown to have been deception.

1) Saddam had body doubles. Intelligence agencies around the world were sure of that. It turns out it was deception on Saddam's part.

2) Saddam had WMDs. Intelligence agencies around the world were sure of that. It turns out it was a deception inspired by fear of Iran.

Appearantly, Saddam admited to using WMDs to kill 180,000 Kurds. This war was avoidable, but Saddam's fear of Iran was greater than his fear of the US.
