The CEO of Boeing told President-elect Donald Trump Wednesday that his company can build a new Air Force One for less than originally quoted -- after Trump complained about the cost.
Earlier this month, Trump made headlines for blasting the company on Twitter for alleged cost overruns with the new fleet of Air Force One planes. Trump called on the government to cancel the contract and called the supposed $4 billion price tag out of control. Boeing’s Dennis Muilenburg, who met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., addressed the media after the meeting and said, “We’re going to get it done for less than that, and we’re committed to working together to make sure that happens.” Anthony Scaramucci, a Trump adviser the founder of SkyBridge Capital, tweeted about the price reduction and called it a “big win for taxpayers.” Trump also met Wednesday with Lockheed Martin Corp.’s Marillyn Hewson after he criticized the cost of its F-35. "Trying to get the costs down, costs. Primarily the F-35...we're trying to get the cost down. It's a program that's very, very expensive,'' Trump told reporters. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/12/21/boeing-ceo-vows-to-build-new-air-force-one-for-less-after-trump-complaints.html Between saving and creating jobs, saving the tax payers money already on this project and going after Lockheed Martin for the F-35 costs and promising he will only take a salary of $1.00 a year President-Elect Trump is fixing to be the best President we have had in a very long time! |

Sort of.
I'm all for the intentions, but remember, this is mostly just talk, so far. There have been no ACTUAL savings on the planes, and the "jobs saved" haven't actually been "saved" at all. They were already slated to stay here, and the ones that were going away are still going away. Large companies saying they will look for ways to cut costs, is publicity, not actual action. But again, I like the spirit and the effort. |

Holy moly! Obama needed a phone and a pen! But Trump only needs a phone?! I'm sure that will turn out well. Anthony Scaramucci, a Trump adviser the founder of SkyBridge Capital, tweeted about the price reduction and called it a “big win for taxpayers.”
That seems to be like being violated by sodomy to avoid pregnancy. "Big win for victims of sexual assault!" A "big win" for taxpayers would be rich people donating, at their own expense, their private jets for use by government officials, and Trump refunding all taxes back to taxpayers. "Hey! We're still stealing your hard earned money...we're just moving it around and paying less for giant private jets!" isn't a win for taxpayers at all. |
