I watched this movie this morning and I am still pondering the idea of fate sending us messages we miss, telling us who our mate should be or is. I believe in a fate of sorts but not to this extent, do you believe that fate or whatever power you believe in sends you messages concerning who you should be with as a partner in life?

Well another movie that does this is Fools Rush In and I have to say sometimes it's spooky. For example an ex of mine loved Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks...well we had broken up and I heard on the radio about a week later 9 of their songs combined within a 2 hour period that included what was our song.We still talk and whatnot but the fact that I usually don't talk to ex's and the fact that I heard those songs might be those kinds of signs.

I believe WHAT an individual believes has a direct effect on how their life works. Kind of like, "if you build it they will come" just if you believe it, so it is.

i believe every relationship is a learning process....i think that whom ever we are with...if we could just hang on and make it through all the bs...in the end if your still together than its meant to be....for if you could have done it with any other women or man....why is it that we have ex's?....

Hmmmmm interesting thoughts. I do agree with you wench that when a person believes it will make it real to them. After all everyone has their own reality. I was just wondering, I kind of figured there would be more women who believed in a sort of fate manipulation as women tend to be more spiritual than men for the most part, no offense guys.

dragoness, that would make an excellent thread. Actually, I'm wondering, I don't think women are more spiritual than men are, I think "societal shoulds" force men to be more of a "My destiny is in my own hands" kind of thing, whereas at the same time forces women to drift where allowed. Although, I'd say for at least ( and probably more) the last two generations, those winds no longer howl nearly as loudly or as effectively with either gender.

Well I'm spiritual simply because it's on of the 3 facets we all have.Physical, mental, and spiritual.I try to keep them balanced. I think a lot of men forget this or just concentrate too much on 1 or 2 and forget the others.

wench, I wasn't necessarily referring to religion, I am not sure if that is what you meant, the spiritual that is that sixth sense, the unseen influence that comes from nature and the world around you, that is what I meant. I do agree however that men are pushed to be more logical and less subject to the other senses we all possess.

Tassel, good for you, the spiritual side of a person needs to be nurtured too. I am not referring to religion but the spirit of the person. If religion does that for you though, that is good too.

I DO tend to look for signs, like, for example; The one and only time I've felt it so strongly that I actually MARRIED the guy, I found out that through our whole lives, we had been JUST missing each other, like in the movie, we knew the same people, went to the same schools, the same places, just not at the same time. There was this overwhelming feeling of "We were supposed to get together!"
However, it only lasted 6 years! So, what do I believe now... not sure!

Cyber T, If you learned a valuable life lesson in the process, there ya go, you grew, now onto the rest.

The movie is one of my favorites, although I don't like the original very much. Besides, John Cusack is one of my favorite actors. America's Sweethearts is a cornball movie, but I love it.
