I was wondering how people view the word. I had to be real supportive last night. I was warned ahead of time that the person I had to deal with was at their wit's end and close to quitting. If you wanted someone one to be supportive of you how would you expect them to act.

considerate, communicative, i'd want them to listen and give advice and not judge me i'd also want them to talk to me openly and honestly .. if they want my support i need to know whats going on.. hard to support them when you dont know anything about the situation

Being supportive has many sides to it. In most cases when the person has lost it or they are at their wits end, the first thing you don't need to do is give them advice on anything. They don't want that, they just want someone who is gonna listen while they vent and get all that frustration out. Then at some point in time you need to let them know that they aren't alone in what they feel. Have to let them know that you have been there, and let them know how you dealt with it.

Just be there to comfort them, let them know that things wont always be that way, they want someone who cares, not necessarily someone to offer their assessment on the situation.

Simple gestures,,, listen,,, really listen,,, Knowing that you are fully intuned into what they have to say makes a world of difference,,, Hugs go along way,,, sometimes just being there is all they really need,, no words,, just knowing that you care enough to be by thier side in thier time of need.
