They seem to want people in states to do more ...
volunteering ...if they possibly can ...

What is your opinion on volunteering ...

This is not to brag...
but since their talking about it ...
I would like to give my opinion ...

Right now I do what I can ...
an I volunteer for many to help out with things ...
I count my friends and family that I volunteer for ...
when I am physically & mentally able ...

I consider where I spend my $ on things sometimes ...
I am volunteering to help...
that organization help others in need too when I do that ...
and sometimes that is weekly ... and I like the people that do work there ... when I am in a store and someone may be lost ...
I volunteer to where they can find what it is they are looking for ... if I know ...
when I really do not have to say anything ... but I help ...and take that time ...

I do all sort of things ... I consider volunteering...

and good thing it is in my nature to help others ...
or I would not even be that kind of person at all...

We should all do what we can to help others. I have done a lot of volunteer work in the past, but not at this time.

Good for you mystical! Every little bit of kindness helps :)

I dont do collective volunteer work anymore although I feel I will et back into it one day.

But anytime friends or strangers ask for help, I usually give it, whether its with physical service, money or just lending a shoulder to cry on.

On a related note, we know that the world has gotten very selfish and cruel, but anytime there is a public misfortune like a family's house buring down, or a devastating natural disaster, the amount of prayers, kind words and physical assistance that starts pouring out, you realise that there is a core of people from every part of the world that have hearts of gold

Over the years I have volunteers more hours than I can count but I have started paying attention tochow much they value the time and money they get. If I feel like they are throwing it around, enriching them self, or just treating the volunteers like servants or second class employees to the sometimes overpaid staff then I will stop.

What really irritated me is how dome disabled and elderly are exploited simply because they are isolated or someone wants them out of the house .

I volunteered to be a moderator for this website.
That's the last time that I'll volunteer for anything.

oh dear,.. sounds like it didn't end well

I volunteer within my community and have done for years.. I can understand the grating of personalities with all the different ideas of how things are/should be done or carried out.
Volunteers are very important to many facilities and groups and events.
If you can't, you don't; You do what you can or are able, within your means and or abilities.. its all appreciated. smile2

well just last night I learned ...
which has been going on for sometime ...

Detroit has a illiterate problem ...
so when I heard that ..I got really angry and
spouted out a bunch of ways to help them ...

could not believe when I heard it ...
going on all in the United States ...
not a foreign country ... our country USA...

and a lot like others ...when I was younger to much I did to count ...
how much volunteering I had done ...

I just can not believe these people ...
that have know one to help them...
and if I new that about my city... I would be right on it ...
this just should not be happening here ...

there are so many ways to get them help ...
I think back all those times I was little ...
How the h*ll did I even learn to read ...
so bad ...I don't remember...
but I hope they are not forgotten about ...
such a brokenheart errrr.....

I so agree with the post "this just should not be happening here".

What really kills me so many times it is not a self inflicted hardship that puts people in dire straights.

It can be something as simple as driving your car over a pothole/sinkhole and trashing the way they keep your paycheck coming in. Most of us live much closer to paycheck to paycheck than not. And are devastated to know what is called help out there. Believe the "fake news" most believe is not even close to reality.

 Thanks David, your efforts are appreciated!

I don't currently do volunteer work, but have in the past at schools, the domestic violence shelter, and at different events in the community. It is a very rewarding experience.
