I don't feel right going gung ho in any direction with this kind of thing.

I used to, like many people do. I still feel intense fury whenever I hear of any kind of injustice, sometimes to the point where I feel sick, or want to commit violence against people over it.

But I have also learned how very very complicated the world is. I've seen that charging in with guns blazing or with righteous indignation isn't a good idea at all.

One small example, happened in this country a while back. The authorities learned that David Koresh had gone over the edge to the point where many of his followers were suffering various deprivations and abuses. The FBI went in to try to "handle" the situation, and as a result, everyone died. Other similar messes have happened elsewhere.

So no, I wont join in decrying entire countries and alliances and "The West" for the fact that these girls went through, and some still are going through what they have and are, because WE DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW ALL THAT IS OR ISN'T GOING ON THERE, AND WHY.

What could have been done there, after all? The news we had, was always that no one had any idea where the girls were. You can't send a squadron of helicopters full of special forces people to perform a rescue when the rescue place is an entire NATION.

So what did you want done? We tried the old "invade the entire country and put different local people in charge" trick many times now, and it has never worked ANYWHERE. We've got Afghanistan and Iraq still in process, with no sign of a solution, the new administration here in the US appears to want to add Syria and North Korea to the list of "repair projects" that the US is supposed to take on.

While I appreciate the outrage, I can't support the accusations that "if they were barrels of oil we would have acted."

Sorry, but that's an irresponsible and unsupportable accusation.

You're thoughts please :

Sht happens. The world's full of problems.
If you want omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent justice and fairness rather than fallible, limited, sporadic, hypocritical justice and fairness, talk to god.

if it had of been 300 barrels of oil our forces would have been in straight away!

Doubtful.
Far more than that is leaked into the ocean every day, no one does anything.

Aside from other forms of aid to the region.
The United States has provided more than $291 million in humanitarian assistance since the fiscal year 2016 and continues to be the single largest bilateral humanitarian donor to the Nigeria.

It is a tremendous amount. I know we give enough.
What gets me is when we give to for instance India and they have a space programme?

As much as I feel for the kids I also feel for our own Children who have to watch their Fathers coming home in body bags.
We don't really know what went on but it appears even their own government did Jack about it.

The kids suffer at the hands of these monsters and the world stands and stares, our own government interested in nothing but wealth and brownie points, their Government nothing but a bunch of dog eat dog rabble.

If it had been the Royal Family or a bunch of some other Glitterati they would have been found and rescued within hours.

Nigeria and South Africa are just two of the most corrupt governments in all of Africa. They have money to take care of themselves were it not for massive corruption from top to bottom. The aid that the world gives to these countries doesn't go to the people that need the food. Their own people are starving, living in shacks while the corrupt live very well.
Did you see the wedding the Nigerian Oil billionaire had for her son?
It was only a 6 million dollar wedding.laugh

There are far too many atrocities in the world for the WEST or anyone else to be able to fix them all,, all of the time

not to mention, there are international laws and rules about what actions can and cannot be taken between countries,,,

and the passage of time means the dispersal of the kidnapped throughout Nigeria,, making them harder to find, let alone rescue

and let's not forget that we'd be criticized for overstepping & interfering as soon as we tried to do anything .... as usual
