TV is showing a "Mommie Dearest" marathon. That is kind of anti-mother. I watch it because it's entertainment.Does it bother anyone?

Yes, I think there is something wrong with showing that movie on Mothers day.

Why show it then??.. why?....364 other days you can air it.

Yeah, people can choose not to watch it. It doesn't bother me. I'm not a mother, and my mother died many, many years ago.

cat, I was thinking of greeneyes question "why", I'm curious, were there commercials for Mother's Day gifts during the movie? If so, it could have been a marketing strategy to sell something. People see that their Mom isn't so bad, so heads to the store to buy her a gift. Either that or someone has a strange dark of humor.

It doesn't bother me, but I do think it's weird that they would play that kind of marathon. I like the cute family type movies around the different holidays and other special days.

I just see it as dark humor. It's really not a big deal. I just wonder if people get bothered by it.

What's next... rabbit hunting outdoor shows.. on Easter?... Lol.

The Mother in that movie was a certified.. nut.

Peter Rottentail..2004 and Easter Bunny Bloodbath...2010, movies they play on Easter to appease the audience on holidays that love horror movies. From what I read, it's most likely the same reason they played the sick mommy movie, lol

Not so much now cat. It used to bother me when we didn't have so many other options to watch something else. When there was only a few channels to choose from and no Netflix, etc., then it bothered me more when they showed movies like this. I don't like watching any kind of domestic violence type movies. Well, except for "Sleeping with the Enemy" and that's only because he gets what he deserves in the end and it also had a romance part to it.

I've haven't watched all of "Mommie Dearest", so don't know how it turned out.

They just do it for maximum effect,if you're talking about then they are in the public eye.
They do the same over here with most things. It's a good job they can't hear our shouting through the tv

Well people watch those movies, which increases ratings, and so they continue to play them. It no one watched it, then they'd likely play something else to get the ratings.
