For me, love comes first.
Sex is important too, but I believe real intimacy starts with trust, communication, affection, and genuinely caring about each other. When the love is strong, everything else feels more meaningful.

The one thing that love needs in order to develop and grow is time. I thank that most people do not realize that fact, far too many try to force love, they fall in love quickly and then fail to do what it takes to make their love strong. It's like my good friend Warren Zevon used to sing, "They say love conquers all, you can't start it like a car, you can't stop it with a gun."
Sometimes, it seems that sex, or lovemaking can lead to a loving LTR. You care about your partner's satisfaction and pleasure so much that you start to love that person and soon those feelings of love grow so strong that you feel that person's happiness is more important than the sexual experiences you both share. So, love grows strong but only because sexual pleasures have bonded you together. It's time shared that bonds you together. Love needs time. That is why I seek a partner for sex first, with the understanding that there is a goal we both share- monogamy and loyalty in a committed LTR. |

While we can couple these subjects together, they are easy to navigate without both there's no commitment to each other's relationship. My take is always talk openly with your partner to find out there wants and needs to meet in the middle open communication is paramount.
