In the last few years many towns have gotten into this idea of having a little book house for people to give away books for free. These are used books. You take a book and leave a book. This is one of the greatest ideas. I'm a book lover. I was driving around my town recently and someone had a little book house "friends of the library book exchange" on their front lawn. I left a book today. Who likes this idea?

Yes, this is a nice idea. It's been around in the UK for a while in various places, trains, hospitals, shops and even old telephone boxes in villages (the iconic red ones )
I think it's been a losing battle with the rise of online books.

British actress Emma Watson has been known to encourage reading by leaving books out in public places for anyone to take.

We have that book exchange here in Port Alberni. Its been around for a few years now. I am not sure how many locations there are, but I know there are a few. Great place to drop off books.

Its nice to get book suggestions form locals
I took a book from a book library once
still need to go back and leave a book though.

These book exchanges only work if you use them. I now know of one in my town, so I will go there from time to time.

In recent years we've had many of the "teeny libraries" pop up all over Wisconsin. They're fun and yes, I have used them to take a book or leave a book. Finding one in an unknown place always makes me smile.
