I don't know if you know this, but I guess courting is much more formal in the Philipines. There's a real process to it.

Anyways, I'm trying to court this girl and things are getting a bit rocky and I'm trying to think of something I can do or a gift I can give her, something significant in the Filipino courting culture. Something that will let her know that I made an effort to impress her through her own culture, something that will really sweep her off her feet. Is anyone out there familiar with the culture that can give me some advice here.

Just an FYI, I do mean Filipina as in she lived there for most of her life, not just racial background.

My stepmom is from the Philippines and my friend lived there for a few years. Let me talk to them and I'll see what I can find out for you.

I found a link that you might want to read
http://www.seasite.niu.edu/Tagalog/love.htm

if you learn about their culture through your own research it shows an interest in it which she'll probably appreciate. Google my man, it's there for a reason.

I think that all men should be thoughtful and considerate in courting all women from all cultures.

of course that's true but different cultures have different associations with what's considerate. Even something as simple as sticking chopsticks upright into your rice can be seen as offensive (it brings to mind imagery of incense sticks at funerals)

What about chopsticks up your nose? I'm just concerned that's all.
