"A Chuck Schumer Beauty"... NYC terror attack suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, entered US through Diversity Visa Program

Eh. Seems mostly a non story.
Guilt by association at best and obfuscating what matters.

Might as well post a story about how the guys wife once did him with a strapon and how sodomy used to be illegal in his state.

The DV program makes up to 50,000 immigrant visas available annually, "drawn from random selection among all entries to individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration" to the U.S.,

I'd be interested in knowing how many people enter the "lottery," don't get chosen, yet still find their way here through a border, or if they migrate to another country and if it's done legally or illegally.

Other than that, I don't understand the point of the OP.
I mean it says up to 50,000 people per year.
And this has been around since about 1990.
So 27 years, 50,000 people per year, that's about 1.4 million people.

1 crazy murderer/1.4 million people.
1 guy killed 8 people.
569 murders so far in Chicago, pop. 2.7 million.
If 8 is the average amount of people each murderer kills when they muderize then that means:
71 crazy murderer/2.7 million for Chicago
...But I don't know how many are immigrants.
The approximate estimation based on government numbers is the state of Illinois population is 3.5% immigrant.
So generously rounding that means 68 crazy but non immigrant citizen murderers/2.7 million people.

On a crappy statistics for humor base alone, it seems we should get rid of everyone in Chicago and replace them with Diversity Visa Program members. The murder rate would plummet! DVP is a success and should be implemented towards Chicago now!

We need to borrow money sometimes. Sometimes we need help with natural disasters. Sometimes we need allies in global issues.

I thought this was kinda funny.

If countries are basing accepting or fulfilling financial obligation on transfer of population...isn't that ultimately akin to slavery?
Other than that, the government issues debt that (some) is for sale to whomever wishes to purchase it foreign or domestic.
We didn't go to China and say "pwetty pwetty pwease loan us money!"
We issued bonds, the Chinese happened to buy it. Could have been Bill Gates or Lackawanna County, or Arizona Colorado and Idaho pooling resources for their pension programs.
No country will ever say "well, we were going to ask if you would issue bonds so we could buy them, but since you closed your borders we're not going to. Has nothing to do with your GDP, your ability to pay, your tax rates. Nope. You closed your borders so we think you're poo poo heads and aren't going to push you into debt issuance, so there."

We don't really know how to handle international help with local natural disasters.
The U.S. government generally refuses foreign aid when assistance is offered. Except for money. Government loves other peoples money.
There are a lot of federal regulations involved.
"Sorry, can't accept your food, it doesn't or we don't know if it does conform to our FDA standards."
"Sorry, can't accept your chemicals/drugs, they aren't FDA or EPA approved."
"Sorry, can't accept your people, or items, they violate import/export laws we have with some of our allies. It's not us, uh, France hates you, and they have embargoes and stuff, and we're in treaty with them, sooooo, thanks, but no..."

Not to mention, you do realize a lot of the "help" for natural disasters comes with inherent liability for recompense?
Meaning we give aid to some countries, or they give it to each other, or offer it to us...and they need to be paid back?
It's not all charity and free money.
So sure, you put your $5 in the "disaster relief" jar and, assuming it's not a scam, it might make its way into a "fund," that is then offered to another country for relief efforts...and then that fund might expect to be paid back, at some time (some are actual charity's that don't ask to be reimbursed). It's just you that will never get paid back.
Money rolls uphill, crap rolls down.

And allies?
We went to war with Britain and took the country from them, killed a lot of people.
I doubt not accepting immigrants for a while is going to keep them from allying with us if we have common cause.
Other than that, it's money and common culture/values that "allies" people.
You think deficit spending, and completely changing the culture of the country through foreign influx pursuing diversity and barely tolerant antagonistic multiculturalism is going to increase our ability to make or keep "allies?"

interesting one participant in a program 30 years old and we should ditch the program

dozens of mass shootings by Americans, but we should not ditch guns or Americans

thousands of deaths by DUI, but we should not ditch bars and alcohol

tragedy starts with the mindset of the individual who decides to kill, not the programs that may be trying to help others that they may have participated in...

So the whole world would be better if we lived here in harmony with no monetary system wait a minute exactly what type of system have you come up with that will appease the masses?

nothing will appease the 'masses' if that means everyone eveywhere

having core values causes division because someone gets to dictate to others what they should be

not having core values causes chaos because everyone does whatever they feel they want to or should be permitted to

balance is healthier, tossing out the baby (programs for assistance) with the bath water( those who abuse the programs) is not...

Prolly maybe never catch you with out an answer. huh

laugh It's called spin.

how long would be long enough?

and what happens when the US needs help from any of those countries which they have then shut out?

what help would we need, and why wouldn't they help?

Yep other countries have laws too. Why shouldn't we?

Btw those other countries still get help from us. Why should tightening up immigrantion hurt us? Others would be hurt too

are there any countries who have closed the borders(completely), as being discussed here, to americans but get american support?

people can always visit, but they to leave... most all muslim countries are that way
