Here in Jersey The school tax is out of control. Constantly rising.. constantly. I am all for education.. it is a valued necessity. But our teachers here are unionized and get paid.. a lot.. a real lot. Look in the parking lot.. Lexus.. BMW Caddies and still constantly want... more. they pay NO heath insurance cost... NONE.

What job has that?

On my back....that I do not agree with

Yea, that's messed up. Bet there's a lot of corruption too.

In my area of Texas, teachers don't make anythibg like that. My niece is a math teacher in Arlington (middle class district) and still buys school supplies to help students

Its regional, I also have a house in N.C and the taxes are 1/10 of what m Jersey taxes are. Same services.. bigger house too. Difference.. the teachers in N/C are not unionized.

My taxes in Jersey are $11K a year.. $850 in N.C...

Forgot to throw in the Jersey cops ( and I like em.. but), they get paid a lot.. like on average over $100K in my town

I got a call a few weeks ago from the PBA asking for a donation for the families of the cops in our county who lost their life in the line of duty. I asked " o.k. ( I read the papers) how many lost their lives?... after pressing a bit.. one in 1973.. hit by a car while directing traffic

enough.. is never .. enough

can't say for texas but up here the renters do pay. it is just burried in the rent. the owner of the property is paying the school tax on it

You are correct they are normally buried in the price of the rent but in the end the homeowner is the only one responsible to pay them..

Still don't see why after you no longer have kids in school for at least 15 years why they don't fix it where some can get a break...and quit paying school taxes..

I don't have kids & I don't mind paying taxes to support our schools - the way I look at it children are the future. As it is, most school systems are terribly underfunded. Can you imagine what shape schools would be in financially if only people who had kids paid taxes? I shudder to think.
