I thought I did but the meds the dr put me on made no difference and when I stopped smoking my breathing problems went away.
I have had bad patches of bronchitis all my life.

My x-rays are clear, my chest is clear.
My sinuses used to make me cough a lot.
Since I stopped smoking so much, my sinuses haven't been bothering me.
I really do think I have been allergic to them all these years.
At last check - no cancer

I almost forgot to smoke my 4pm cigarette.
When I did, I got a slight cough.
It passed quickly tho.

Good for you Tom, it's been a little over 3 weeks for me. Coming to Colorado and not being able to smoke indoors has been a help.

I didn't really have the withdrawals either, before I left Florida I was smoking around 3 packs a day for those last three months. Sometimes more. The week before I left, I had cut back quite a bit, so I think that helped with the withdrawals as well.

I got the patches, but only used them for a few days, mostly I use the lozenges, but not quite as much now.

The hardest for me was when I was online as well. Have you tried rearranging where your computer is? I found when I was trying to cut back, having my laptop in a different location helped with the association cravings.

Finding something healthy that you enjoy eating can help with the hand to mouth thing.

Sounds like you're doing great, good for you. I believe once you make up your mind to stop, it makes it a lot easier.

Good luck to you.

Happy and proud of you both. They say it can be as hard to stop as heroin. Keep it up and join a rising number of non (cigarette) smokers... bigsmile

Best thing you can do for your health

What was your motivation for choosing this year to quit smoking Tom?

The coughing and sinus problems were getting worse and I have a useless doctor so I had to find some relief. I read online that a guy was found to be allergic to tobacco so I figured I would try stopping because I seem to be allergic to everything. Felt relief the first day.

This morning I switched to step two of the nicoderm.
Last night after my 11pm smoke, I brought the pack in the house.
Its now in the bedroom.

I don't want to quit by substitution.
I don't want to quit by removal of temptation.
I want to be able to stare at a pack of cigarettes on my desk all day and not WANT to smoke one.
Then, I want someone to light one up in front of me and still have no desire for one. I'm also curious if I will get an allergic reaction to the smoke once my system is cleared.

I have had cigarette smoke in my life, all my life. Even when I was in the hospital fighting for my life I was craving cigarettes and as soon as I was able, lit right up.

I had a slight coughing spell this morning. Sinuses, but it is nearly 70 degs out but gets down in the 30s at night. I might have a slight cold? Blowing my nose stopped my coughing.

I know a few people who have stopped through hypnotism, might be worth looking in too.

Good luck.
