I just searched: 'Humanoid creatures in Malta' and found some strange and scary stories on many sites, using Dogpile, not just google.

Being bored I remembered a story told to me by an old Maltese man, father of a guy I knew, and followed it up.
I didn't save any links, look it up for yourselves.

Anyway this old man was present when during WWII a stretch of undulating land on a hill on Malta was bulldozed to make an airport, and he said a 'nest' was found with a small tunnel leading away from it.
I quizzed him what he meant by 'nest' and he said it was like a well hidden rocky room with recently used bedding grass, big enough for half a dozen human people to sleep in cozily. The dozer took the top off of it exposing it. Then they filled it in for the runway and buildings.

Then he told me about the catacombs and the story of the missing children and teachers on a school trip in the tunnels under Malta. For days the sounds of screaming children were heard from various places all over the island.
Quite scary stories are told, even in recent times (1990's) of hairy humanoid creatures, and other dog like 'things' with glowing eyes, and small mischievous 'imps', and monsters hiding in the wells, and others.

Apparently not so long ago you could travel the length of Malta in catacombs, caves, and tunnels without surfacing; but now most are blocked off, for 'security' and some used for storage. Some suggest that there are tunnels going all the way to mainland Europe. Catacomb tours are restricted in number, and they say to never ever go in them alone.

A lady recounted being on a tour and 'at her own risk' exploring a low down burial cavity in a crypt which extended to a large cavern and to a ledge at the side of a 'seemingly bottomless pit', where by her light she could see across the cavern to another ledge, where she saw humanoid creatures, who put their hands up toward her and a gust of wind blew her light out, whereupon she got out of there asap, and her guide then gave her a knowing look. When she returned to the place a few weeks later the guide was changed and all knowledge of anything in there was denied, along with access to the small tunnel.

If you like being creeped out, then look it up.
I believe the old guy's story; he didn't really want to tell me anything about it but I pestered him for details over a lunchtime barbecue as much as I could without being rude. Malta has much ancient history.

Just looking up 'humanoid creatures' yields many many sited to read.

I'm visiting Malta later this year and will be cool to find out more. I have many books on Malta but all about ww2 as my father was stationed there 42-45 in the royal air force.
I think the tunnels probably are a result of thousands of years of being invaded!

I have researched this a few years ago, nowadays theres almost no credible info about this topics.

There is clearly a disinformation campaign going on.

I've seen on TV about some cultures bandaging the heads of their children to elongate their skulls for some reason. Not just the Coneheads movie.

While I was searching I saw a site about humanoid creatures filmed in Australia also, hiding in a cave being explored fairly recently. The explorers didn't see it/them until watching their video later on.
