I want my soulmate:heart_eyes:.....soulmate where are you? I have been waiting in what seems like forever.....:hibiscus::rose::cherry_blossom:

I hope you do find a nice man.

That said, I think internet dating really works best for people that "look good on paper". That is people who can really craft a good bio. Also, they are photogenic to some extent. They understand the principles of photography and have the knack of taking alluring pictures of themselves. They are good at writing an interesting bio that piques peoples interest; a bio that invites a response.

Most men and women are reticent to really talk about themselves to complete strangers. Furthermore, body language, which is a huge component of communication, is completely missing from online encounters. Most folks need some kind of body language cue in order for the conversation to continue.

Isn't that the truth! There is nothing like pulling teeth to try and force a conversation out of someone online! It's frustrating and exhausting and if I have to work that hard and the guy is at home with plenty of time to think about what to say before hitting send, it would be mad torture if we were sitting across from each other in person!

My bio doesn't exactly compel anyone to contact me. I mean, you can check it if you don't believe me. But I still get attention from both the real and the not-so-real.

The point about conversation is very true though. If you can't converse via chat or email, then you'll never get anywhere. But that's also why the forums play such a big role on Mingle. It allows you to throw yourself out there without quite as much pressure as a one-on-one introduction/icebreaker. Just sit back, relax, have fun, and speak your mind. As members become familiar with you through the forums, opportunity may knock. When it does, you might already have something to talk about, making the conversation so much easier.

One thing that forum regulars may not realize is that there are a lot of real people who are lurkers. They may read the forums, but they don't actually participate. This is normal in most forums. Some people just like to read and follow along. I don't know the actual numbers, but at other forums I've been it was maybe a 4 to 1 or a 5 to 1 ratio of lurkers to participants.

I've actually done chats and video chats in the past with a few lurkers. And I'm only counting the ones that turned out to be real, not some spammer or what not. It can be a bit disconcerting at first, especially since you may know nothing about the person even though they seem to know something about you. So caution is to be expected in those situations.

I have said damn near that EXACT same thing mnay times..

Dude claims he doesn't like to type, or can't express hmself well in writing...he claims he's so much better in person...blah blah...

Honey, if you can't effectively and conversationally express yourself in writing when you have the time to think about what you are saying before you type it....I seriously doubt you'd be any better a conversationalist in person, when you have to think on the fly... grumble sick

Why is it so difficult for women to find serious guys, when they can get sex almost whenever they want?
