I think you missed the point east .. she is a giantess .. the baby was likely normal size for her .. looks like a healthy natural delivery . Inducing has its own risks ..

hi dub .. great that you are interested in maternal health . Thanks for the research links biggrin .. the study was conducted on women over 35 years of age where maternal abd fetal risks are increased compared with younger women . Also the sample size was American women cared for by a general practitioner - only a small percent had a midwife as the lead care provider . The results can not and should not be conferred to all women .
Unless a risk is identified i still believe it is in baby's best interest to remain inside mum for the normal term of pregnancy .
Every woman has the right to choose early induction . She also has the right to be fully informed about the benefits and consequences before she decides waving

My kids were almost 9#, I'm 5'4. Heads were too big to get through pelvis, I had c-sections.

First one was in distress, had to get her out. The next 2 were scheduled a week before due date - my OB could tell how big they were.

Still not the 22 lb records though...

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/heaviest-birth

any idea if that was a natural birth ?
it don't say on the sight

personally ...I would not think so ...
just for the health of mom and baby ...

but depends on how dilated she was... always a factor...
