Been here since end of September & so far love it
The Ticos(locals) are friendlier than Canadians if such a thing possible
US dollars spend better than local money (colones)
Year round days usually 85 and nights 75 with 12hr days (5:30am to 5:30pm). There is only 2 seasons here. Dry=tourist season till May & Wet, still hot June-Nov
I've got a condo 2 block from the beach & 4 from downtown
Every morning I wake up to the sounds of White Wing Doves (3 nests on my place), tropical birds & howler monkeys.
Tons of Canadians(cheap direct flights from Toronto to Liberia) & us Yanks. In fact there is a whole area of town(Las Palmas) beautiful and full of North Americans.
They say a family of 3 can live like kings for $1500/mo (though beach more expensive)
For $700/mo I get a 3 story condo fully furnished 2bed/2bath w/washer&dryer. Large beautiful kitchen(all US stainless appliances). The only 2 utilities I pay are electric(lot of A/C) for $65/mo & TV/internet (300channels,many in English) for $18/mo
Everything else covered including a gardener for my large patio. Food runs me $18 to $60 a week and the fruit here is to die for. Main transport here is buses, foot, bike, motorbike & golf carts & Taxis. Gas is expensive over $4/liter. To go from one end of town to the other by Taxi=1000 colones(about $1.60). So I like it! Opps rambled on a bit much, sorry.
