It kind of makes me sick that MTv conformed from only showing music videos the way they were when it first came out. Then they went to shows that played videos inside them which was ok (i.e. bevis and butthead) then they started coming out with plain stupid shows like Hogan knows best and now the new one with snoop in it. Yuck. MTv please go back to playing music 24/7!mad

The only thing I watch on MTV now is Headbanger's Ball. VH1 is more metal now than MTV. At least VH1 plays Behind the music which I always enjoy, especially when it's Pantera, Ratt, Motley Crue, etc. Metal Mania is cool too, it's either a good video, or a video so awful you can't help but laugh your @$$ off. Haha.

I watched Headbanger's Ball last night. I like VH1 i got that on my fav list on the TV. I also watch a lot of IMF, but only ppl with satellite get that channel. (PS guitar hero is for losers, use the time playing guitar hero to learn how to play a real instrament)

VH1 is definitely better than MTV, VH1 Classic, if you have it, is great, too, I have that on a lot. flowerforyou I can't remember the last time I turned on MTV and it was playing music.

To show my age here, we got MTV when it was only a couple of months old, we were the first family on our block to get cable and we were the most popular place to be for a good while. laugh laugh laugh

I have, I think, all of the MTV and VH1 channels. MTV 2 etc do play more music but not by much.

Funny, I didn't even realize Headbanger's Ball was still on, I need to start staying up later laugh laugh

I've played guitar since I was 11 (thanks Slash), and I actually think Guitar Hero is a fun game.

...And the term Guitar Hero was around decades before the video game came out, so not every instance of someone using that term is in reference to the game.

i have to say if it wasn't for headbangers' ball i might not be where i am today. when i was a sophomore in high school (about 5 years ago) i started watching it and got the vol. 1 compilation they put out and it opened up the flood gates to me listening to heavy metal. i already listened to metallica and megadeth but headbanger's ball lead to hatebreed, lamb of god, pantera, damageplan, slayer, anthrax, shadows fall, arch enemy, and too many more to name. now i'm studying recording industry and going to be a recording engineer. so i definitely have to thank headbanger's ball for helping me love music even more

I was unaware of this. All I'm saying is I think it's stupid that some kids play guitar hero and never learn how to play guitar, but they are "awesome" at guitar hero. If you think it's fun though it's all you.

That's awesome. Headbanger's Ball was on back in the 80's too, and got canceled in the 90's. I wish they'd play the classic versions. I too have taken interest in music production, and I have a studio here at home. It's not super awesome, but it get's the job done for now... until I upgrade everything. Right now I'm working on frequency separating so you can hear each track clearly, even when they are at very close volume levels. There's a lot of crap to learn with all of this stuff, but it's fun learning it. Good luck to you.
