Coming from someone in the USA. What is Yorkshire Day? I googled it earlier Cat, I didn't know either what it was about. Here's a little info. Maybe the guys will explain it a little better and tell us more about how it's celebrated. "Yorkshire Day is celebrated on 1 August to promote the historic English county of Yorkshire. It was celebrated in 1975, by the Yorkshire Ridings Society, initially in Beverley, as "a protest movement against the local government re-organisation of 1974"." August 1st every year to celebrate the culture of the wonderful county of Yorkshire. Drink some Yorkshire tea, down Yorkshire beer, roam the Yorkshire moors, read a book by the Bronte sisters and get Yorkshired *not a word*. Alternatively, get your whippets out and flat caps on and show your regional pride.Other ways to participate include eating Yorkshire puddings or black puddings.
The day also commemorates the Battle of Minden between Britain-Hanover and French forces in 1759, along with the emancipation of British Empire slaves in 1834, for which Yorkshire MP William Wilberforce fought a tireless campaign for. |

The infamous War of the Roses, hihi. Funny how the Tudors came forth from it to rule for quite some time over the country. For some reason it always reminds me of GoT, the Lannisters mostly, haha. |
