Posting it here as this is NOT religion, this is beyond religion :)
----------

“My generation is at a crossroads,” I said. “And I wonder what message you have for Gen Xers?” (people born from early/mid 60s to early 80s)

“In the West, you have education. This is good. You have technology. This is good. But you do not educate your people in values of the heart, of compassion. This you must do,” the Dalai Lama said. “It does not matter whether you are Buddhist or Christian. Compassion lives in the heart, beyond religion. Even me, a Buddhist, can say that you do not need Buddhism. All you need is the compassion of the heart. Women know this because peace is implicit in women. You put boys together, they make war. You put women together, they make peace. Women are the leaders of the future.” And then he laughed.

Interview with the Dalai Lama.

Hes a nice chap lol. I always remember this one. Which is Zen-elicious. :)

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

Oh, I like that! both the word Zen-elicious as that quote!
Thank you flowerforyou

I don't follow any one way, so I'm not a Buddhist either but some of it is wonderful. I take from everything that interests me what resonates with me, dump the rest, and out of that I've created my own unique mix hihi.
But this little speech of the Dalai Lama did speak to me!

Same as..

I got into Zen 30 years ago. Zen sayings hint at a different way of thinking.
A finger pointing at the moon, and all that sort of thing..
It is a set of techniques and sayings that aims to illustrate the limitations of duelistic thinking. And aims to bring you to a realization of an alternative. That's all. What you do afterwards is up to you. No religion to follow.

Ghandi was pretty good as well.
When asked, what he thought of western civilization, he replied "it would be a good idea. :) Cool as lol
