Anyone else here who follows this series?
I love love love it! It's set in the 50s, which at first made me skip it entirely as I'm not keen om 50s movies or series. But dammit, is it good!!
The cast is outstanding to begin with and the issues they address were very contemporary then, and in a funny way they still are?
A few things that come up regularly in various degrees and setting are homosexuality as the vicar's right hand is gay. And women's rights and equality, which had started to come up then.
We have come a long way since, but nowhere near where we should be. A woman getting sexually harassed at work, but also young women living the wild life at school, drinking, smoking, having sex with condoms provided by the principal, getting grades, yet knowing their future will be "Housewife and popping out children".
These things aren't the main course of the series menus, there's always a murder, but you get to see these things, 'served' as a side-dish yet very clear.
The way they've done that is truly wonderful.

And with Robson Green as main character -police-, excellent series! I don't know if it is also on in the US, but I'd guess so as it's so good.
