Well, my new way of eating and snacking in the evening is paying off!!!
First 1 kilo in a week. Now, almost 2 weeks in, I've lost 2,4 kilos!! YEEHAA!
Meaning 1,4 kilos in 6 days? Holy cow, that is a lot!
I don't need / want that much weight loss per week from here on out, as it'd be too much in too short a time, and not good for the body either that has to get rid of all kinds of toxins now as well. But this for now as a start is very inspiring for sure.

thats good crystal, but you might add a small cheat day. during the week. it will help prevent rebound.( ask your dietitian)

Not sure what kind of cheat sheet you mean?
I'm not on a diet really. I just have to change a few eating / snacking habits that aren't healthy in general but also not so great when going through peri-menopause.
That's all I'm doing :) I still snack, but now healthier things, I still eat a lot, but healthy stuff and I cook myself now. I still eat cookies at times I did before etc. etc.

So it's just changing a few habits.
And drinking less regular coffee as I drank way too much --> all day long and then 50-50 (half decaf). Now I'm upping the decaf levels to wean myself off of it so in a later stage coffee can be replaced with healthier drinks without a problem.

And I got to cut back on meat and diary but that's for my joint/muscles problems, not related to losing weight.

So far it's going well :) I'm getting used to it, faster than I expected.
In May I hope to be where I want to be concerning weight. That was my loosely planned plan, haha.

looks like you already are doing it right. (you
said one of you cheats is the accessional cookie for example).
a cheat is eating a few things that you shouldn't, not because of restriction. but because of your goals.
as you mentioned loosing weight, too fast is not a good thing. but so is loosing the wrong kind of weight . rebound is weight loss caused by the body eating it's own muscle proteins while storing fats .
you dont want your body to go into starvation mode, because, it is not use to the changes in your diet.
it is better to make changes slowly over time to allow your body to adjust. same as we dont develop bad habits all at once.

I've never done strict diets. I don't believe in them. I do believe in a healthy lifestyle and that has to be doable. SOmething you can do for the rest of your life, a lifestyle.
I'm not going to not eat a cookie or the occasional bad thing for the rest of my life. Not doable.

Currently moving more than before as well as I feel better and have more inspiration since the last few months (I'm going through quite the personal transformation!). Apart from that there's also the medical rehabilitation with physio in the gym involved. And doing exercises at home.

I won't play hooky as gym is part of my med. rehabilitation program until beginning of May. So the next 3 months I certainly won't! After that my intention is to continue, preferably in a group as that's more fun :) Done that before, was always great.

I won't play hooky as gym is part of my med. rehabilitation program until beginning of May. So the next 3 months I certainly won't! After that my intention is to continue, preferably in a group as that's more fun :) Done that before, was always great.

I just added a new exercise today, going backwards up and down stairs. this is great for the back of the legs. though the neighbors are looking at me funny ;-). it is something your legs are not used to (at least mine are not) so it's a nice lil mixer to riding the mongoose.

That's why walking back and forth is part of the 1 mile walk by Leslie Sansone.
I wouldn't dare do that on the stairs as me falling of the stairs in 2012 got me TBI and with that a helluva lot of problems.
I'm always very careful when going up and esp down the stairs, hihi.

For me time to do my exercises again today that help strengthen abdominal muscles :)


Concerning different eating habits... I'm now really used to eating different things at night. I'm also noticing that my urge to snack has gotten much less now that I'm eating nuts that I have to crack with a nutcracker first, one by one. So no more scoffing, haha.
ANd then I get tired of that quite soon without feeling the need to let the snackhand go free with something else.
First week that was difficult, now it's become my new normal!

I could see where steps might be a concern
does your physio therapist have the 4 stair climb with hand rails?? maybe you can use that.. under their supervision. going slow and careful actually works the muscles more than doing them as you might have when you were more agile.
true about shells.. you would really enjoy shelling almonds. as a snack deterrent. they slow you down so your stomach has more time to register the message to the brain, that the bodies being fed..
I just dont like wasting the money on shells, so I use the small dixie cups. with trail mix (nuts dried fruit, grain clusters, and chocolate) once I got use to not shoveling it in by the hand full. it was easy to adapt to.

My weight went up and down 2x, which annoyed me, but now it's back to 2,3 kilos less :)
Had a brief online appointment with my dietician yesterday. Always nice to have some support and to be able to ask a few things.
I've got to drink more water. I keep forgetting that after a few days. So I made crystal water again, then I see it as there's a jug on the table :)

I'm a bad boy..
baught a whole box of snickers peanut butter squares. 68 count box .. because they were only 15 bucks.

but at least they are real peanut butter and peanuts under that caramel and chocolate LOL..

hey crystal.. looks like you have stabilized. thats basically intake/out take weight fluctuations. dont let it bug you too much. it is your body normalizing to the changes in diet. I can have swings of up to 5 pounds gain and loss in a week. and still end up down a pound or 2 on the average..

In any case, weighed myself again, normally don't do it so close as last time was only Wednesday. But... now I'm 1 ounce (100gr) short of having lost 3 kilos!
Fills me with joy! And stronger belief that in some 2 months time I will be where I want to be :)

but thats about 7.5 US pounds lost, if I did my math right. dont that make you feel better then just loosing 3 kilo's LOL good work.

Hi Richard! 7,5 pounds does sounds great, but it's pounds, I'm programmed in kilos. We also have a metric pound btw, which is 500grs. A little more than the imperial pound.

In any case... yesterday told my daughter I seemed to be stuck on the same weight. Or the scales were stuck rather, haha.
But during this weight-loss journey I have noticed it not only can go up and down a bit but also stand still for a bit and then suddenly, overnight, there's another pound or kilo gone!

That happened from yesterday to today. Weighed yesterday, no further loss. I was getting discouraged.
Then just now decided to weigh again, which I don't usually do so fast after the last time, but I somehow felt 'emptier', lighter.
Stepped on the scales, and hooray!! A kilo gone!!
Now fingers crossed it doesn't go up and down again now, haha.

And getting discouraged is not necessary really as it's about 1,5 months since I started (Jan 29th) and already 3,8 kilos gone! That's a lot.
So I'm now 2 metric ounces short of 4 kilos weight loss.

3,8 kilos = 8,4 pounds :D

LOL, I feel I loose and gain that every day crystal, just putting my keys in my pocket and taking them out.. ( I got to have all my work Keys every day.)
summers coming and springs almost here. so we will be shaking off our winter coats soon.
aand getting more active, now that all restrictions will finally be gone.

YESSSS!! I weighed myself and I am now back under the digit I never want to see again on my scales!
Not sure what you call that in English, 10 numbers together, like 1-20, 20-30, 50-60, etc.
Google is of no help either as it says "a dozen" and that's not the same.

In any case, me is VERY VERY happy!!!
Lost 5 kilos now :)
Getting very close to where I want to be weight-wise.

During my last appointment with the dietician I asked what I could eat at night instead of quark with strawberry and a bit of honey as I'm totally fed up with that.
I want something savoury!
So now I got very thin crackers, guacamole, hummus, and a tapenade to use either on a cracker and/or to dip greens in.

That's what I've been doing last couple of days and I like that so far!
I need to eat (snack) something at night otherwise I cannot sleep from being so damned hungry, and this works too.

Weight-loss now is 6,6 kilos!

So even when you're in your 50s it's possible and I didn't even feel it was difficult.
I only had to change what I eat at night.
It does of course depend on your daily eating style, but during the day I didn't have to change anything since I don't eat much anyway.
I'm also not doing a specific diet. I don't believe in diets and don't want to do any diet, ever. I'm okay with making my life-style and normal food intake different and better, so it's something that I can keep doing without a problem.

I've reached the point that I can occasionally eat something that's not so light and not put on weight.
Like the other day when I had McDonalds. I ate every crumb of it, haha. Totally enjoyed it. And did not put on weight.
Occasionally I get a Chinese take-away, Tjap Tjoi and vegetarian nasi goreng (so I don't have the yuk meat things in there).
Not fattening as a meal really, so very doable!

I DID IT!!! YEEHAA!
I am at the weight I want to have :) I was so surprised to see it on the scales that I wasn't sure how to feel haha.
I hadn't expected it as the last time I weighed myself it'd gone up a few (metric) ounces. And I had fries special with 2 frikandellen special last Friday, meaning quite the lot of mayonnaise.
And yet... I'M THERE!
No wonder my jeans and undies were sliding off my bum yesterday when I was doing chores, hahaha.

All in all, I started January 29th, so in just over 4 months I lost 8,5 kilos!!
