Of late, I've seen some blatant violations to the Forum Rules and some really very unkind remarks by some posters here. So, with that in mind, I thought perhaps those of you who have not had a chance to familiarize yourself with the Forum Rules could do so here.

****************************************************************

The following rules have been established to help maintain a civil and friendly environment, allowing everyone to enjoy the discussions found here.

Please read this post completely in order to prevent any potential rules violations.

FORUM RULES

1) Do not attack/slam/insult others. You can discuss the message or topic, but not the messenger - NO EXCEPTIONS. If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, YOU will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself, defending a friend, etc. are NOT excuses. Violations of this rule are taken very seriously and may result in being banned without warning!

2) Topics which are started with the intent to denigrate, belittle, or disparage another JustSayHi member, either directly named or through enough descriptive commentary to be possibly identified, are prohibited. Such topics will be instantly deleted and may result in the banning of the original poster. This includes following another poster around in the forums, posting about past events gone sour, divulging personal information, spreading gossip or rumors, posting email exchanges between users, etc. Keep the drama off the forums!

3) No explicit, sexual, offensive, insulting or vulgar language. The JustSayHi forums are rated PG-13. The only exception is the Sex and Dating forum which is rated R, NOT X.

4) No derogatory or offensive references to sex, gender, ethnicity, religions, or sexual orientation.

5) Pity-seeking or attention-seeking topics which serve only to draw attention to yourself are not permitted on the forums. The forums are provided for the enjoyment of all members. They are not about you. The only exception to this rule is the New Members Welcome Area where posters are permitted to introduce themselves to the community.

6) For your safety, do not post personal information such as telephone numbers, emails, mailing addresses, instant messenger ids, etc

7) Do not post messages that violate federal, state/provincial, or local laws which include, but are not limited to, anything that violates a copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or is bound by NDA (non-disclosure agreement)

8) Do not spam the boards with advertisements for other services, websites, etc.

9) Post topics in the appropriate forum

10) If you have concerns about another poster or which to report a rule violation, the ONLY appropriate venue is to use the Report Abuse feature or to message Vanchau or Mike. You may NOT air such concerns on the message boards themselves. If you have a general concern that does not involve a specific member, you may post your question in a civil manner in the "Feedback" or "Help" forums.

Thanks for your cooperation and we hope you are enjoying the site!

I would like to add, before you the hit the submit button, take a minute to consider how your words are going to be received. If they are not productive or are unkind, use the back button.

and violations are left to 'slide' under the radar, over the radar, or just plain ole ignoring the radar with out any repercussions. and all the while things that shouldn't be deleted or moved or deactivated are so.............

right before i started typing this i read threw 5 pages of 3 or 4 possibly more people calling each other names, insulting and basically generally attacking each other for giving their honest opinions. hell this happens int he religious forums all the time and is left pretty much unchecked while a 'moderator' is posting forums rules for us to follow.

i've seen moderators involved in these kinds of posts who do nothing and some who take things way to seriously when they shouldn't be. tell a jewish joke in the humor forum and it gets deleted, condemn all jews as worthless heritics and say their all going to hell, well thats ok cuz it's a religious forum.

so who checks who here? i see a cut and dry rule but nothing cut and dry about how it's viewed by those who are suppossed to be enforcing it.

I assure you sir that the moderators do work very hard, and the email i sent you earlier should be a testament to that end. i do recall pulling two posts today?

We will remove anything that is in violation of the forum rules, please use the report abuse feature provided. Thanks.

I think moderating must be a difficult job and I will not pretend to know better then they do. I believe they are doing their best. This reposting of the rules is probably the first step and then will come the hammer:wink:

So thank you guys for all your time and energy you expend determining what is appropriate or not.

I find this interesting, and especially azrae's comments.

Having been on this site for 9 months now, and only for the Community section.... I have been pleased to have witnessed, firstly, site owners, who respond as quickly as is possible, to EVERY mail... and query.

Secondly the site being opened to INTERNATIONAL members, (I was here when it was only a US and Canadian site, with special permission)..a trial of self moderation, which was not seen as the best outcome for members, and now VOLUNTEER moderators.

With the report post option, I have had almost immediate response from the mods, and an explanation as to why posts were removed...I have been warned when crossing the line in my posts, by the site owners, and also suspended when I kept crossing the line...There was an instance last night of a very judgemental and harsh post made in a thread, and was removed, however, other posts made, regarding that nasty post, were still there, I mailed one of the mods, as one of the posts that needed removing, was mine, and I dont have a report post on my own posts, it was attended to promptly, and the thread topic was able to continue to flow on topic, with all referrence to the nasty post remove.

I see the system, as being effective, especially considering, we the community forum members were offered to 'elect'/nominate, who we saw as beneficial , and balanced long term posters, who have a genuine desire to see this site develop into a better and more successful site... irrespective of whether it for singles, dating, young, old, or friends all over the world, who enjoy sharing discussions.

Well done the moderators, the site owners and the contributors to these forums, who still sense the FAMILY here.flowerforyou

Folks come into the forums to have fun, share some laughter, debate issues, escape, relax, get support. We can accomplish all of that in a respectful manner, without slewing insults, poking fun or belittling one another.

There are living, breathing souls behind the words written here, each one with a heart. None of us knows the personal battles each of us may be facing in our real lives. You don't know just how deep that insult is going to cut them or.. how much that kind word may mean to them. For me, lifting someone up is far better an impression to leave them with.

I agree wholeheartedly. And I wonder if anyoen else feels like they're being baby-sat..seriously. WHen I first joined there was just mike and vanchau...not I don't even know who's watching what or moving what...or anything. It's like TOO DAMN MANY COOKS IN THE KITCHEN. My God, get rid of the people who don't behave and let the rest of us be...I feel like I'm being treated like a child: "Let's go over the rules again..."

How delicate are all these "living breathing souls"? I grew up a 400lb girl...think of the BS that's been said to me...but I didn't have my mommy there to take those comments away. Seriously, it's just words...yeah, they sting...but get some thicker skin if you're gonna let some internet site determine what you think of yourself...bullies are everywhere...the world is not warm and fuzzy...
