Topic: where have all the hippies gone?

I am starting to feel lonely here. I am having a really hard time meeting like minded people that have something real to say. I would ask, am I just to diffrent, but that wouldn't do any good beacause even if someone answers yes, I am not going to change. Anyway,, is anyone else out there having the same problem? They are here... in Oregon. I live in the place that all old hippies come to die. Apparently their compass broke, they did way too much acid, and they are convinced this is Haight ashbury! The young ones just don't know any better and follow.

Real hippies......the ones I knew smoked pot morning noon and night......didnt shower......the women didnt shave their legs or under their arms.......smelled of patchouli.......gag

There are people in Austin that consider themselves Hippies. I am no hippy... but I may think like one.

my aunt is one of the rainbow people! when my uncle died a year ago...she had his memorial service at a biker bar!

You have just described a sizable portion of the population of the town I live in. I'd put my hair in dreadlocks in an attempt to blend in..but it would just look like dirty spikes.

Try the Woodstock-Saugerties area. There are still plenty of the old hippy crowd there.

I missed the whole movement by about 20 years lol Fortunately my parents instilled some of the values and ideals in me (though I DO shower ) Thanks Mum!
