there never was a one size fits all answer :)
I admire anyone that raises kids nowadays. I only wish people had been around to see my little sister growing up. She never got spanked, not once. My mom and I spent more time trying to keep her in time out or grounded than it was worth. We'd spend, literally an hour, trying to get here to take a 5 minute time out. She is physically abusive, mentally abusive, she hits my mother constantly and calls her so many vulgar names. Constantly says "I wish you would die" My mom is handicapped and can't handle it. She is in counseling for what good it does. I will admit sometime I think a good spanking might have helped but mom didn't like that idea. Sadly there isnt much we can do now. My sister is violent and it is NOT from spankings. I was spanked 3 times in my entire life, I am not abusive, My mom means the world to me, I respect everyone and everything. For the people that do not like spanking, I agree there are other ways but what about when those ways fail? |

Here's a uh well, ugggghhh, thought before we go to sleep, yeah I don't like posting it but something to think about.
If you don't put your foot down and in your misbehaving 6,7,or 8 year kid's asses now then imagine what 10 years down the road will be like? For instance, I grad in 87 from high school and muscle cars were hotrods with v-8's whereas in 97 it was lowriders with BOOM to destroy the ears but knock up your daughter. 2007, it's drugs and a father figure cause extended/blendid families are too stressful and economy sucks! Imagine 2017???? |

He says thank you all the time and please most of the time. He is very polite and everyone loves him. Of course he is still 2 and has his moments but he is a kid and they are supposed to. Now, in my home we have rules and we do follow them or else we get in trouble. Yes even spanked if needed. And I am a single parent! My friend has a 2 year old who does what he wants, listens to no one and is mostly a terror to be around. His parents both mom and dad are there but they dont punish him when he does things wrong. He had free rein to do what he wants. |

I AGREE For one look at the crime rate. When I was a kid and did something wrong You better believe my behind was set on fire. Now don't get me wrong my parents weren't abusive, but we got what we deserved. There are five of us and all five of us believe in spanking our kids. Time out is just time for the kids to think of something else to do wrong, Least that's my point of view. Speaking of crime rate. My cousins have been in jail numerous times for different crimes. Their mother used time out. Now don't get me wrong time out may work to a point, but I firmly believe if needed spank the kids. That and I'm not saying we grew up to be perfect cause my youngest sister went to jail for a PI
