The other day some of you may remember that a dear friend of mine had encountered a tragic accident involving his daughter. She was struck by a car and thankfully she survived with a broken arm and some pretty deep cuts and bruises through out. This godsend of a 9 year old Angel was just simply playing when she became victim of a drunk 16 year old rookie driver. He has only had his license for about 4 months!

To hear today that obviously he has been released, which was to be expected. Although, his attorney is going to push for PBJ! Which means a slap on the wrist and a fine and oh cant forget, drive good for 12 months...What a joke....I despise Criminal Attorney's,...yeah it's their job...But who wakes up one day saying they want to help the bad people? Anyhoo.....

I want to see this guy burn, I want him to feel the pain that this little girl and her family has suffered. I will do everything in my power to help and assist and make sure of it!

Maybe a JSH front line at the court house!

Jim,

Believe it or not, there is a positive side to the criminal justice system. Sometimes people do actually get what they deserve, but other times we all just need to wait until they get it from somewhere else, at another time. From a force greater than us mere humans.

As frustrating as this can be when it impacts you personally, remember this. Those same laws could keep you from going out and taking matters into your own hands and ending up in trouble yourself. And that would keep you from being the kind, loving, and supportive friend I'm certain you must be.

I agree there is a positive side, I have seen the justice system work great in many ways...Also in failures. I just truly hope he get's every bit he deserves from this. I know how the system look's at first offense charges and usually are more leniant. I just hope that's not the case here

Jim,

Our laws are no more even keeled or fairly distributed than dating, for lack of a more appropriate anoalogy in this forum.

Too much depends upon the luck of the draw, in every aspect.

I wish your friend's daughter a speedy recovery and the hopes that she revels in the "coolness" of her cast and has no lasting ill effects.

But don't be overly hopeful of any jail time. Sad but true.

I know..Im not necessarily thinking of jail time. WOuld love to see that but I know it's not a reality. I would like to see some pretty serious penalites, no driving priveleges for a long time, and some pretty hefty, nasty, disgusting community service. Everything possible to the fullest extent. Everyone has kept good composure, we are all very forgiving people...I think what triggered us was this kid originally said, I screwed up and was genuinely sorry and wanted to do the right thing and pay the price. Now all of a sudden he has this clown of an attorney and his whole demeanor changes, now he was driving the speed limit and the little girl "ran out" on him...Story is changing on his part...Not only that, but ran from the scene so they dont have a reading on his content, but at least a recorded statement admitting he had been drinking. I can just see this somehow being dismissed now and doing a complete 180.

Sorry to rant but I am a little taken with all of this

Our daughter's play together all the time, my girl reassured her that the cast was actually "cool" laugh and we had a good time. Funny you say that....

Thank you for the support drinker

Yup money talks... Some people worship it, its a graven image. If you ask me the moron should of had his liscence taken away, suspended indefinately to give him time to think. Two things dont mix with alcohol, guns and cars. People dont realize that if your drunk and cant drive, no matter how old you are a 911 call will get you a free ride home, and maybe a stern lecture; it sounds stupid but in reality its being responsible. I speak to many officers and they feel strongly about this. Either that or just call a friend or a taxi...

Jim,

Of course, there is no need at all to thank me, but it is taken with pleasure.

The things we don't see are often the "behind the scenes" ones. This boy might very well be remorseful, but I'm sure his parents hired the lawyer to protect their child, as you would do to yours. And people lie, all the time.

I did not actually think you'd go out and smuggle a gun into the courtroom and all that, it's much to Law & Order!

My point was simply to bring objectivity, which is what I try to do, often with to no avail. But I'm happy you took my sincerity as it was truly intended.

We are here for venting, discourse, and all that, with no hard feelings. flowerforyou Each day is a new one.

No, no guns in the courtroom for me...Not that I wont be there shooting eye darts though?!?!?

I have a good family background in law, I never did because I had enough backup with the family, so I have a pretty good idea. Everything is treated by a case by case basis and I know this...I just want justice for her, not me, not anyone else, but for her..I can only hope the Judge that day can truly say to himself "What if she was killed?" That's all...the rest will fall in place if he/she thinks that...

If justice is served then he may still be able to walk after that laugh (j/k of course, well....maybe)

Jim, you would have to tell me ALL the details of HOW it happened for me to say HE'S reckless, and careless, and so on??

And let me add that I have lost a 15 year old niece to a accident with a 16 year old at the wheel.

But it was her girlfriend who was driving and they also had two other 15 year old girlfriends in that car, ALL DIED..

But, it wasn't "ALL" the 16 year old driver's fault.......

She WAS A NEW DRIVER.... and HER mistake cost the lives of three other people but OUR SYSTEM, of educating drivers in the right manners and pratices to drive safely,,,,is what the FAILURE was THERE and maybe in your case??

Much sympathy to the victim. Tragically, these kinds of incidents are all too common today. I can remember during Navy training one of my instructors broke into tears giving us young sailors a talk about drunk driving. A drunk driver killed his first wife and their children. He since remarried but his words still echo to me almost ten years later. He said "If your gonna drive drunk, just don't do it while my family is on the road."

The man made laws this country currently uses to "fix" many reoccurring problems with evil people, including drunk driving, are useless and ineffective. God, in His word, gives us what He describes as His perfect law. The faithful who are reading this: do you believe that statement found in the Bible? That His law is perfect?

His law for evil, negligent people who would get behind the wheel and murder/ maim innocents is lex talionis. Lex talionis is the law of retribution, better known as "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". It's found as case law in Scripture, and covers a vast multitude of cases. It's fair and it's just. After wicked people like these drunk drivers have done to them what they do to their victims, the crimes/murders they commit won't be so common. We're getting to a time in history again where believers need to start waking up and realizing unless we push for change and start doing things Gods' way corrupt lawmakers, judges, lawyers, etc. are going to continue perverting justice.
