Someone asked me to name just one(1)accomplishment of President George W. Bush, 43rd President of the USA:

The following is taken from USINFO.State.Gov
U.S. Department of State

I WILL START OFF WITH A FEW FROM THE FIRST TERM ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ADD UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ON THE BUSH ECONOMY AT THE END:

THE WAR AGAINST TERRORISM

# In 2001, with less than a month's notice, American and British forces in Afghanistan joined with local anti-Taliban troops in an assault on the al Qaeda network and the Taliban regime that gave it safe harbor in Afghanistan.

# Passage of the USA Patriot Act met one of the president's goals. This law brought down the artificial wall separating law enforcement and intelligence officers and allowed them to talk to each other as they work to prevent future attacks.

# In 2002, President Bush proposed and Congress approved a single, unified Department of Homeland Security to improve protection against today's threats and be flexible enough to help meet the unknown threats of the future. By unifying over 22 agencies and offices, the president has improved the government's ability to guard U.S. borders and infrastructure and patrol the skies.

# In 2003, coalition forces acted with skill and bravery to liberate the Iraqi people and remove a grave and gathering danger to America and the world.

# The murderous regimes of Saddam Hussein and the Taliban are history and more than 50 million people have been liberated.

JOBS AND THE U.S. ECONOMY
(MORE ON THE BUSH ECONOMY UP TO 2007 LISTED AT THE END)

# Between 2000 and 2003, productivity grew at the fastest three-year rate in more than 50 years.

# In September 2003, the U.S. Department of Commerce reported the lowest unemployment rate (5.4%) since October 2001.

# The president's tax relief allowed families to keep more of what they earn by cutting tax rates across the board.

HELPING THE NEEDY

# In 2003, President Bush announced the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, a five-year, $15-billion initiative to turn the tide in combating the global HIV/AIDS pandemic. Just one month after Congress appropriated funds for the president's plan, $350 million was awarded to service providers for critical prevention efforts and to bring life-saving treatment to suffering people in some of the hardest-hit countries in Africa and the Caribbean.

EDUCATION REFORM

# President Bush submitted his framework for education reform, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), three days after taking office and secured overwhelming bipartisan support less than a year later. NCLB represents the most significant overhaul of U.S. education policy since 1965, when the Elementary and Secondary Education Act was passed.

MAKING HEALTH CARE MORE ACCESSIBLE

# In December 2003, President Bush signed legislation that makes Health Savings Accounts available to millions of Americans. Health Savings Accounts offer flexible, affordable insurance options for small businesses and individuals.

# This legislation also will make prescription drug coverage available to 40 million senior citizens and people with disabilities through the Medicare healthcare system.

PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

# President Bush has committed America to meeting the challenge of long-term global climate change by reducing the ratio of greenhouse gas emissions to economic output, or greenhouse gas intensity, by 18 percent by 2012 compared to 2002.

# In December 2003, President Bush signed legislation implementing key provisions of his Healthy Forests Initiative. The President's initiative is helping restore the health and vitality of forests and rangelands, and helping reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfires.

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH - Economic issues:

Facing opposition in the Congress, Bush held town hall-style public meetings across the U.S. in 2001 to increase public support for his plan for a US$1.35 trillion tax cut program — one of the LARGEST TAX CUTS IN U.S. history (Emphasis added-Lindyy).

Under the Bush Administration, Real GDP has grown at an average annual rate of 2.5 percent,

The Dow Jones Industrial Average has grown by about 30 percent since January 2001.

Unemployment .......dropping to 4.5 percent as of July 2007.

Under the Bush-era economy, ...... information available suggests that the standard of living has increased on all rungs of the socio-economic strata....

Another significant part of the Bush economic plan was the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005.

FROM CONSERVAPEDIA.COM

More on Economic issues:

Upon gaining office in 2001, Bush signed into law a $1.35 trillion cut in taxation over 10 years. The plan included the objectives of doubling the child tax credit from $500 to $1,000, reducing the tax penalty on married couples and fully repealing the tax on estates. A United States Senate Finance Committee Report estimated that with all the planned reductions fully phased in, the average family of four making $50,000 would save $1,825 per year.[14]

Since the tax cuts, IRS revenues have actually increased from $1.78 Trillion in 2003 to $2.56 Trillion in 2007 with a 46.3% increase of individual income tax receipts. Surging $785 billion since the 2003 investment tax cuts it is the largest four-year revenue increase in U.S. history[15]

Bush has presided over a period of general economic growth. This is partially due to changes in the stock market that lead to a record high in 2007. Corporations show profits growing by double digits growth.[16] Even the working class is benefiting from the Bush economy, AS UNEMPLOYMENT HIT AN ALL TIME LOW IN MARCH 2007
(Emphasis added-Lindyy)

Bush signed into law a minimum wage increase, ..... after the House and Senate included Bush's request of provisions for SMALL -BUSINESS TAX BREAKS (Emphasis - Lindyy). Tax policies have been favorable to reducing the Capital Gains Tax, with a subsequent surge in investment.

It appears that the US economy has done pretty well under President George W. Bush's Economic Policy.

I won't begin to try to rebut such a verbose post. I'll just say that some drunks wake up one day and see the light, while others just continue down the same destructive path, a prisoner of their addiction. Fortunately, this path mercifully ends at the end of 8 years, whether or not the drunks have seen the light or not.

Doing something and doing something that works and is a benifit to the country is different.

And as far as economics go a president has nothing to do with an economy. While they do try and help they have no control so no president can take responcibility for any economic happenings.
