Topic: What does WWJD mean to you?

We call ourselves believers in the greater good. What really does this mean? most of us have wished if we could only win the lottery. We could have it all. Many pledge they would be able to do so much good with millions of dollars. Yet the sad truth is many are so overwhelmed that they turn to self greed ending up worse than they were. Our we a society of materialistic success? Is that what we have become to define success is what we have. A new car, new home, new boat. Is that what the greater good is? Ask yourself what would I really do with millions? Would I feed the poor? Or do they not need help and have done this to themselves? Have you ever felt the reality of no place to call home? We have all seen the craze with the WWJD bracelets. Was it a fad to where one or did it really make you think? Have you ever sped off and rolled up your windows when some dirty homeless person has a sign out “will work for food” Sad state for them. Yet our Messiah said. “ the birds of the air has nests but the son of man has nowhere to rest his head” Would we speed off from him too. Paul said Angels are all around you. That you should be generous because you never know when you might be in the company of an angel. What would an Angel come to us as today? A book that is the 2nd most read book in history made me think to the core. A town in Kansas in the late 1800’s had a Hobo show up at their services. They did not turn him away but they did try to stay clear of him. After the service everyone greeted each other goodbye and went their way and the Hobo went out on his own in the mist of a cold winter. No one offered him a place to keep warm or even the scraps off their tables that they give to their dogs. On Monday morning someone found this poor man frozen in the snow. The church leaders were being reminded in their minds about what Yahshua had said about such a situation. They had a church meeting and decided that for the next 30 days they would “Walk in his steps” Yahshua’s. The name that became this book. They found out their way of life did not even come close to the scriptures. Everything they did for 30 days they stopped and asked themselves WWJD. That’s where that came from. So I would ask you to dig deep down and think about success what does this mean to you. Are you asking yourself everyday WWJD? Think hard about your past, what you wish for and what do you really want for the future. I believe we all can contribute and learn as a family no matter what your philosophy is. Blessings.. Miles

Thanks.

When I read this book and I picked it up for a couple of dollars at a flee market.I considered myself a believer. I was still a little wild about 25. It hit me to the core. It made so much sence to me. That is when i really dove into the scriptures and could not get enough. But it goes to the very foundation IMO. Of what we are as a society.I admire the poor. I know a guy who is buying a older house raising 3 kids on 14k a year. Has no debt but the house and he does not owe much on it. But he is content. He does not want or need more. He helps people also. I think about that and think i have been spoiled all my life. Wined about this or that. Wanted all those new things. I would be somebody. Yet would I? How we treat the downtrodden says much about ourselves.. Blessings..Miles

Chapter Thirty

And Henry Maxwell, again as before, called up that other audience at the Rectangle with increasing longing for a larger spread of the new discipleship. What he had seen and heard at the Settlement burned into him deeper the belief that the problem of the city would be solved if the Christians in it should once follow Jesus as He gave commandment. But what of this great mass of humanity, neglected and sinful, the very kind of humanity the Savior came to save, with all its mistakes and narrowness, its wretchedness and loss of hope, above all its unqualified bitterness towards the church? That was what smote him deepest. Was the church then so far from the Master that the people no longer found Him in the church? Was it true that the church had lost its power over the very kind of humanity which in the early ages of Christianity it reached in the greatest numbers? How much was true in what the Socialist leader said about the uselessness of looking to the church for reform or redemption, because of the selfishness and seclusion and aristocracy of its members?

He was more and more impressed with the appalling fact that the comparatively few men in that hall, now being held quiet for a while by Rachel's voice, represented thousands of others just like them, to whom a church and a minister stood for less than a saloon or a beer garden as a source of comfort or happiness. Ought it to be so? If the church members were all doing as Jesus would do, could it remain true that armies of men would walk the streets for jobs and hundreds of them curse the church and thousands of them find in the saloon their best friend? How far were the Christians responsible for this human problem that was personally illustrated right in this hall tonight? Was it true that the great city churches would as a rule refuse to walk in Jesus' steps so closely as to suffer — actually suffer — for His sake?

I think that I have learned that I would walk by faith and completely trust my life in God's hands. I believe that Jesus having God come down as a man, had to completely believe in what his Father Will was.

The Big Question what is God Will. My only answer is Love.

i think how you treat your poorest citizens tells a lot about how your society is as a whole.I always try to tip well and do a random act of kindness everyday.Even a small kindness pays great dividends.happy

Thank you miles for this........It is so huge.......and I think the core of what I believe. I live every day and say before anything I do WWJD......For me my life is at peace. I don't worry about material things.....because if the good Lord decided today that I was going home....would I take any of it with me? NOPE I live knowing that everything I do is with a purpose and that is to make a difference on this planet for the short time that I am here. Where the Lord leads me.....there I go.....whether it is to talk to the ladies at a State Prison, or to travel to India.....and minister and build a church and orphanage and water well......I listen and the Lord answers to which I follow with a glad heart. I don't worry about finances because God is always taking care of me. I don't worry about a roof over my head, because God will always make sure I have one. I don't worry about food for myself and my family, Because the Lord shall always provide. I am a firm believer in it coming back 10 fold.....

If a homeless man needs food, there go I.....If a family is in need of anything, there I am, If their are injustices of this world then I shall go and see what I can do. The adage that one man or woman can move mountains.....I believe through the Lord My Savior that this is true.....If led by him there is nothing on this planet that I cannot accomplish.....And to remember that I do it all for His Glory and not my own. And at the end of the day when I close my eyes and rest The Lord is the last one I speak too.....and when I rise with the sun shining on my face the Lord God is the first one I say good morning too and then listen to what needs to be done for that day.

God Bless

Debbie

Miles...Great post!!

The thing is, when Jesus comes to live in us, we do become like him.
And we automatically do the things He would do, then.
It comes without question, if we are his children , that is.

But in order to become more like Him, we must spend quality time with Him , so we may grow to become more and more like Him , and mature in our walk.
Of course this is a process...and none of us have arrived yet, Amen?

I have learned that the more time we spend with te Lord , the less the things of the world matter, and the more we DO become like the Lord the more we have genuine Love for one another...believers and non believers alike .

And that is one of the things I sense about this christian site here on JSH...there are genuine believers here..and the love of God is shining thru you all here ...for all the world to see.

So... keep shining here for Jesus , Mike and others.....cause the world needs what you all have to share here.

God Bless You All in a Mighty Way....in Jesus Awesome Name....
Amen!!!

((((am fairly new here...just popping by...will stop by again when I am can....
Stay Blessed and Encouraged Now, Everyone )))))

For God so loved the WHOLE world, and said to never say one be a believer nor an unbeliever, as he said that all know in their heart god exists....as these are facets we each pass thru in our own experience, each to his own and each equal as God spoke, that ALL men were created equal, and that weakness was given so that all men would ask to know more than they already do, so it becomes apparent that all men live lives just like the ones recorded in the great history book of the book of life the bible.....

Weakness is not a bad thing, and why each was sent to earth, as without weakness, no matter the type, none would come to the place willing to hear more than what they already knew.....greed is within each to serve a purpose, to drive one to their destiny, to know the WHOLE truth....not to try to live above ones wicked ways, as this is to imprison and makemore weak....when weakness is seen to be a gift then the need for weakness is retired....perfect strength in perfect weakness.....anything that seek to save it's life shall lose it, but anything that regard not it's life shall gain it.....so how can one study and try to be more like god when all this is self centered, self seeking and self assuring ones own place in a kingdom that is nowhere but within each, the very subconcience of each man, where the desire to love is said was god....it was said that the mind itself was our enemy, and that satan would come posing as an angel of light.....so our mind will say let me be good to save myself by being a good person.....the very trap we were warned to pay heed to......the leaven of religion.....religion close the mind to ALL things work TOGETHER for good.....the very scriptures say that god would write his laws on the hearts of man, that each man know in his heart god exists.....so what man should look at himeslf and pray for salvation from himself? Is that not to seek to save ones own self.....no need, as the only condition of lost was lost to knwing the fact that not one was ever LOST!!! All the scripturess testify of such, along with every fairy tale ever told, every nursery ryhme ever sang.....even the three little pigs speak the same truth....little red riding hood...jack and the bean stalk....all written in plain sight and conatin the key to ones perfect happiness and bliss....all contain truth once one see the truth, and the true test of the truth is that all that hear it shall be FREE, not enslaved to effort, as that me friend I have known by much experience is sweet in the mouth but bitter in the stomach.....but if we go back to the beginning and portake not of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, to mark things in the mind and eyes and hands with a judgement of good and bad, we can see it was all about love from the very first word, and only fear of losing ones soul lead one to a hell that is felt in all their being....but then it was sang by an evil doer once, that he was told a secret, that you have to go to hell before you get to heaven.....Jefferson Starship.....yes, Paul said there be angels all around us.....ALL HUMANS ARE ANGELS, FALLEN FROM HEAVEN TO LEARN WISDOM AS SOLOMON, TO RETURN TOGETHER TO OUR PERFECT HEAVENLY BODIES THAT AWAIT, ANGELS UNAWARE FOR SURE!

Why should any man raise himself up as a leader and preacher and say they have interpretation of what JESUS said....he said nothing of the sort the things that you say he did, in fact said that religion was a harlot of truth that led many astray, and warned that many would SAY they come in my name, but if ANY say to ANY you are condemed, DO NOT HEAR HIM......that all that come as satan come as angels of light! i am sorry me friend, but you quote only the things that serve your purpose and make the downtrodden to be more downtrodden, so spare me what my name means in hebrew, as even Jesus was angry at ones in the temple that said to the poor, give us your money to do good with! in fact, he turned over the money tables and used a whip to beat the preachers that did so....always a hand out and advice.....WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THAT RAN TO CONDEM A PROSTITUTE.....HE THAT IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE....NOT ONE MENTION HAS ANYONE BEEN TOLD THAT JESUS SAID NOT ONE EFFORT WAS NEEDED, THAT ALL QUALIFY FOR SLAVATION, AS IT IS A GIFT, AND ONLY BE NOT ACCEPTED IF ONE TRY TO MERIT OR EARN IT, AND THE REASON HE NEED TO COME IN THE FIRST PLACE WAS TO WARN ALL TO NOT TAKE RELIGION....LET HIMSELF BE CRUCIFIED BY RELIGION TO SHOW US THE HATRED AND DIVISION RELIGION WOULD CAUSE.....SO QUOTE THE WHOLE STORY AND LEAD NOT GOOD AWESOME PEOPLE DOWN THE ROAD THAT LEAD ALL TO DESTRUCTION, FOR EACH MAN BORN GOD SAID WAS EQUAL!

WWJD? He would give to the poor. He would offer the good news. He would be peaceful.
WWJND? He would not be greedy. He would not ram anything down the throat of another. He would not kill in the name of peace.

Very good post Miles....Now let me tell you something I did myself...I saw my daughter wearing one of those WWJD shirts one day as she stood in front of the mirror, and the lettering was backwards. With my poetic ability of things I see, I did turn them around and wondered what I could make of it...So the WWJD turned around would be DJWW...Doesn't Jesus Work Wonders. That is my new philosophy. And He does work wonders.
