I just saw this on our local TV. They interviewed this grandfather and he showed where the piano like keys of different colors. That if you would push one yellow key on one end of the toy and then did the same yellow key a few keys away the toy cussed at you.. it must because the channel bleeped the words the toy said. it takes alot for words to get bleeped anymore on TV.

Has anyone had contact with this toy? If so what is it saying? Thanks...Miles

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - A toy designed to help children learn the alphabet is swearing like a sailor instead.

An Osceola County grandfather discovered the problem in the Leapfrog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar.

Children can press the caterpillar's legs to teach them the alphabet, but Knutty Frye discovered the right combination of buttons seems to turn the ABC's into vulgarities.

Frye contacted the company, but he said they didn't share his concern.

"I was told to take it back to the store I got it from and get my money back," Frye said. "(There was) no concern at all to the fact it was saying bad words."

A representative from Leapfrog didn't return phone calls about the problem.

A Wal-Mart representative said since a letter key makes a sound it shouldn't, it appears to be a manufacturing error. To comment on this story, send an e-mail to Kendra Oestreich.

we've got the toy...and it's no big deal.

it's a combination of the letter sounds, just like speech.

if you press "f", then "k", it sounds like the f-word. go figure.

toys are for playing with, not for selling...and it's silly to get worked up over alphabet sounds.

yea that is true.. But how many defective toys ect. That they stop maki ng ends up a novelty? it just happens.. If wal mart is selling it and it has made the national news. They may send out an email to have all of them pulled.. Just a guess..
