In my culture....the person who asks the other to go to lunch usually pays....its not a written rule...we just do it out of the kindness of our hearts  ....so if i was this guy and i didnt have any money...i wouldnt have even asked you unless I could pay but i guess he doesnt think that way..dunno.....if he does it again....i would tell him how you feel
